I really enjoyed this, and thank you for that! Loved the pipe backing up and flooding everything and the careful disassembly of the altars and the resigned acceptance that Mal and John's plans never work as expected... This was just a complete blast. Thank you!

It was fun to write the caper parts of this, especially because I knew from the first that (of course) nothing would go right. Or at least, that a lot of things would go wrong.

Thanks!

I adore this, SO much. *grins*

I'm glad you included the bit with Dean and Jayne and the grenades when you posted this last part... It got me to read even though the crossover combination sounded iffy, and I found a terrific fic. I never would have thought these two 'verses could work together, but you got the characterizations and all the little things so right, and fit the Winchesters into Firefly 'verse so very well. Bravo!

I can't wait for more!

Thank you for taking a chance on the story! I'm glad it worked for you; I have to admit that I'm a little surprised myself at how good the fit is, because you're right that it's not the most obvious SPN crossover. But the characters work together so well that I can fiddle the setting, if oyu know what I mean.

I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this!

I know exactly what you mean. The lives of the Winchesters are similar enough to the Firefly crew's lives that believably fitting them into the same story is possible if the characterizations and story are strong enough... I had just never seen it done right before. *grins*

I hope you don't mind that I friended you; I want to be sure I don't miss anything. :-D

Oh, I never mind being friended -- I'm only sorry not to be able to friend people back, but I don't read my flist at work and can barely keep up with the list I have.

I was saying to musesfool (who's been a huge enabler on this project, and who has a wonderful Dean/River piece called Kore -- I'll find the link, if you want) that I think that what she considers her Firefly soundtrack is my Supernatural soundtrack, and that's why the shows work so well as a crossover -- they have the same tone.

This fight scene with the demon was terrific, but mostly I'm gleeing over the fact that Simon's a secret!badass, because that's how I often refer to Sam. Hee.

The four of them look down the stairwell, at the body twitching on the lowest level. "Hunh," Mal says.

That...that is just SO MAL.

John and Dean fighting that tentacled thing is beautiful to behold, that passage is so well written, scary and vivid.

Aww, protective!Dean, how I adore you. I liked his moment of thinking how "quick" things are working with his father, that they've worked together so much they're in sync. And their conversation about Sam being his own man.

Dean saving John but then John turning things so he protects Dean, just...yeah, that's John and so Winchester. Stubborn and driving his kids crazy but he'd take bullets for them.

Terrific work! I wouldn't mind seeing more in this 'verse. I'm going to rec this (not just tag it on my delicious account but actually babble in a livejournal post *g*)

Thank you for the feedback -- and for the recommendation! That's very nice! (And there's bound to be more -- to be honest, I feel a bit bad that I haven't written anything but this universe for such a long time, but it's kind of fun to play around in.)

I'm so glad you liked the capers. It's all very "perils of pauline," but I hope not in a bad way. And of course they stop in the middle of a dangerous situation to argue about Sam. In some ways, John and Dean are very similar. I love the fact that each of them moves without thinking to protect the other, and then immediately starts criticizing. John in particular probably couldn't say "thank you" if you held a gun to his head. So they have to express their affection by risking their lives.

And Simon is totally a secret!badass, so long as it doesn't involve guns. I think he's hopeless at shooting or fighting in a normal way, but he's a quick thinker and he's actually pretty ruthless when he needs to be.

I am so digging this - the characterizations are fantastic (which definitely seems to be the toughest part of ficcing well), especially with the Winchesters adapted to the Serenity'verse. Their voices are still their voices, even if the speech patterns, etc. have changed.
I can't wait for more!

I'm glad you like the characterizations -- I think that's really important in a crossover, especially one like this, with the speech patterns and the spaceships and all that!

Thanks so much for the feedback!
