I am monumentally incapable of caring about the LJ content flagging system. You all can care for me, how's that? I was out late for a party last night, and luckily this is a light teaching day, because I am feeling rather thick-headed ( Read more... )

Wonderfully in-character.

Oh, I thought I was the only one. Thank goodness.

I cared about LJ stuff last summer, but right now, I really don't have the energy.

Honestly, I don't think it's all that terrible an idea. As is typical with LJ, they're implementing it in a monumentally stupid way that lends itself to all sorts of abuse, but as someone who lied about her age to get onto adult Yahoo!Groups back in the day, it's really hard for me to be all that worked up.

To say nothing of the other things I have to worry about that are all more important to me than LJ being dumb. As far as LJ's idiocy goes, really, this is pretty minor, I think.

Well, the thing that strikes me about it is that, first of all, people lie about their ages all the time, and that's fine -- this is LJ covering their asses, not actually trying to keep kids from seeing porn. Also, the most problematic part, from my point of view, is the ability to flag other people's journals and posts, but the more that's abused, the harder it will be for LJ to do anything at all about it: if they get thousands and thousands of grudge flaggings, they're going to end up ignoring all of them.

I love this 'verse. It is funny how you are able to change the language up a bit and still make this very much John. Very cool.

There's a bit of a drawl to his speech anyway, which helps a bit -- the idiom doesn't sound too alien on him.

Glad you liked this!

Honestly, I think bringing Kaylee might make Bobby slightly less likely to shoot John on sight. More likely to break out the holy water, mind, but less likely to shoot. Probably. :)

I think you might be right, and I love the thought of Bobby's commentary on the whole situation, too. Because he's fond of John, but he knows that he's not he easiest person to get along with, too.

(Sorry about the fact that I screen anonymous comments, btw -- I was getting a lot of weird porn spam for a while, and screening lets me delete them without having to look at them.)

What would be really funny is if Bobby knew Kaylee's dad. Picture it, John's worried about taking Kaylee where she might get shot at, and the first word out of Bobby's mouth is, "Kaywinnit?"

As for the screening, I don't sweat it. There're a lot of weirdos on the net, and some of them are the creepy kind, not the fannish kind. :) If you're worried people might be offended by it, I think there's a "prove you're a human" option, instead. I'm not sure, because I don't have a journal, but it might be something to look into.

Hunh -- I will see if I can find out about the "prove you're human" thing.

Picture it, John's worried about taking Kaylee where she might get shot at, and the first word out of Bobby's mouth is, "Kaywinnit?"

This is priceless! And then Bobby would want to know how on earth she ended up in John's company, and Mal would never stop mocking him.

You know he's thinking, "well, there's... no.. OK, then... oh, wait... well, what about... no... oh, crap."

I'm glad I could cheer you up with a little snippet of this!
