I believe that we are creatures Dustin. The word "creature", by definition means, "something created." Although this term is most commonly used to describe animals, it can also be used in reference to humans. I thought that you might be interested to know that the word "creature" can also refer to mythological beings, and microscopic organisms. It can also mean someone dependent on or subsurvient to another. By the way, it's good to have you back and posting. -Megan
oh MAN *rubs eyes* is this REALLY a post from dustin???!!?? hehe jk! hmmm...the infamous question eh? well, you know what i think... and good luck with duncan and this one! ;)!
Well I already gave my two centsjenwoodSeptember 24 2004, 11:14:13 UTC
I agree with Megan. We have the association in strong in our mind between "creature" and "critter" that it seems weird to use it as anything else, but by definition...there is nothing wrong with calling humans creatures. ~Jennifer
okay, second post... after thinking about this (it is a MUCH better topic then calc i can assure you)i think have determined our problem and discrpency lies in the fact that to everyone, the word 'creature' has a different connotation.... so while by deffinition it may tell us that it does (or does not) include human beings, because the word holds a different 'feeling' to us all...in our minds, the deffinition changes... BUT you could open a whole new can of worms if you wanted to (and if you were looking for an argument) and ask who it is that is given the PRIVELAGE of deffining what consitutes a creature...
Well, you pretty much know my oppinion of the subject since I was in the same room with you when this whole thing came up, but just if you dont know i believe that yes a human is a creature. I think a creature is something that breaths and dies, and we fall under that catagory. Man, i think duncan is going to seriously get on my nervs in that class...he has been in there what 3 days and already has raised his hand more times then all of us....combined!!! I can tell mr ward was seriously getting upset too...he said like 3 times, "Duncan i am NOT going to call on you!" and when he does answer its not like an "ah ha" sort of thing, its like a, "yea we know that" or a "that makes no sense" type of thing. lol oh well!! Duncan will be duncan and we cant change him!! I hope you had fun at the game, i did!! xoxo Love always, vanessa
