For journalism class, I need to get people's reactions to the State of the Union address.

Anyone who gives me a paragraph response (the sort of response I can turn into a teacher) gets a prize.

I missed last year's speech, so I'm not sure how much of it was repeated and how much was new. I was struck by how familiar all of the speech sounded to me from the President's recent remarks. Of course he defended wiretapping, not that I thought he did it very well. Of course he wants to make the tax cuts permanent and reauthorize the Patriot Act. I guess maybe he learned his lesson from 2003 in that it's safer just to repeat old stuff than to make statements that eventually will be shown to be false. I wasn't even that angry after I watched it, because I'd already been angry about the same issues before. Usually I come out furious.

my friends played a game where they drank every time pressy-pants said freedom, terrorism, al qaeda, nukeular, liberty, family, values or weapons of mass destruction. most of them didn't make it to class the next day. half of them had to make a dash for the bathroom half way through.
