I call myself Maxwell Hydragyrum. I work as more or less a jack-of-all-trades, but the sign on my door brands me as a private investigator- although I also do great party planning. Ever read American Gods by Neil Gaimen? If not I can lend it to you when I get back to Waterloo.... but I suspect you already have :)

Excellent call, Opal. I absolutely adore the kind of subgenre that this story and American Gods falls into, and you're right, I did read it- all of it, the night before I wrote this, in fact.

The fact that you're referencing American Gods would indicate you've picked up on who the main character is. Well done. I was worried I made it too obtuse,
