Anyone who knows me is now instructed to take note of my bitching about new physical symptoms and then beat me over the head with a newspaper until I go to the doctor about it.
Oh, and my allergies have exploded the last two days.
I HAVE an allergist... I just stopped my shots for the September to February window (no insurance and then 'no time') so my allergies have just gotten out of control...
Find and buy the most comfortable and supportive shoes you can find. Fashion is immaterial. If your feet hurt, the rest of your body suffers. Try on various pairs, wide and small till you find one that makes you feet happy.
You may/will still have foot problems, but at least they will not be aggravated by your shoes.
Most comfortable and supportive - definitely. However, Simona, if you would also like to know of some brand names or places in the Richmond/D.C. region to purchase ones which are also attractive (yes, they ARE out there and I have found them), I'll be happy to give you a list. We have a shoe store chain in the D.C. area which specilializes in hard to fit problem feet, and I have found some excellent shoes through them.
Comfort One Shoes in the Washington, D.C. area specializes in hard to fit feet. I have "severly pronated" (i.e. pancake feet). I typcially go to the Comfort One at the corner of King St. and Lee St. in Old Town Alexandria. However, they have other stores in the area. I will check their website for stores closer to you

1. My feet used to point out. Then, I developed arthritis in my knees and started physical therapy. The P.T. had me do exercises to strengthen the quads around my knees, which had the effect of straightening my knees and feet. Not saying this is your problem or will work for you - just noting my own experience.
2. A doctor should be in partnership with you for your health. If he or she isn't on the bandwagon, he or she IS replaceable with someone better. Telling a patient to suffer through foot pain without attempting to allieviate or fix the problem is not someone who is in partnership with you.
have you tried a chiropractor? I love chiropractic. I broke my toe once and the doc wrapped it in tape. That all was that could be done. I did ice and elevation for a couple days but it was excruciating. It was the size of a hotdog and just at red! I went to my chiro and and he worked on it, by the time I got home the swelling was down to almost normal....it was just bruised. I could actually get a shoe on later that day.
I have an excellent chiropractor - he has done wonders for my back and my TMJ (the only thing which has brought me relief in 14 years with TMJ is my chiropractor working on my jaw and head. The dentist is shocked :-). Unfortunately, my particular knee and foot problems cannot be either solved or much mitigated by chiropractic work. Depending upon her foot issues and the quality of the chiropractor, it may help Simona. Of course, it also may not.
Glad the chiropractor has helped with your migraines. Sounds like your chiro does a similar type of musculo-skelotal manipulation to the head and neck as mine does.
He moved to NOVA and the other ones at the practice weren't nearly as good.
Then I lost my 'well-paid' job and ended up unable to afford one.
The insurance that I have doesn't cover much at all for the Chiropractor, so it isn't an option right now. When I have more 'disposable income' I'll definitely start the search for a good local one.
Dr. Carlson used to set: My neck, upper/mid/lower back, my elbows (when needed), my wrists every time, my fingers (when the pain started becoming a regular issue), and my knees and ankles.

3. Good luck. And go to the podiatrist :-)
