Oh wow. That's wonderful and beautiful and PAINFUL, and I love that you gave us a glimpse of Vecchio in Vegas and all the things that he must have seen and had to do to do his JOB, you know? I love showing how he's ambivalent and worried and kind of LIKES it on some level.

There's nothing easy about this, but that's what makes it GOOD.

I'm sorry you lost your first fic, but I really like what you've done with this one. Like in the sense that it was really painful but well-written. Heh. This sentence (and the paragraph that followed) really got to me: The first time he smacked someone down, he knew exactly who he’d become.

I'm sorry I lost my first fic as well - it was long and plotty, and I just didn't have the heart in me to recreate it. (I'd worked so hard on getting it done before NaNo, too. Ugh.)
