The album has a couple keepers, most notably "1,000,000" and "Demon Seed", but all in all it's pretty underwhelming. "Corona Radiata" in particular is just lazy, I think. And he's recycling riffs and song structures like crazy these days, which, say what you want about him before, he never used to resort to that kind of automatic writing.
I suspect that's why he gave it away for free...he knew it was just average, and felt he'd be better served using it as a palate-cleanser and not burning up too much audience goodwill before his next album that he actually sinks some effort into. I think the title, "The Slip", refers to the slippage in quality control, haha.
I agree, its not horrible, Ive listened to it three times now (if you count the parts where I was literally put to sleep by it) its just that the whole album is, i dont know, muddy. I couldnt really pick out one song from another really. And theres something about the drum processing that I dont like at all.
