I think that for me, true justice includes mercy. I mean, I think justice must take fairness into account, and if there are reasons to show mercy that are ignored then how is that just? Does that make sense. I also find it interesting that everyone (so far) thinks Superman prefers justice whereas Lex is divided, because I'm much more certain that Lex would choose justice over mercy than that Superman would. I think Superman definitely has a better sense of mercy than Lex Luthor.
Interesting question. I'm interested in your opinion.
Excellent points. The word 'justice' does come up frequently where Superman is concerned. And I hadn't thought about the minion named Mercy. I just think of Lex Luthor as someone who is ruthless, and who would except no excuses, and who therefore shows no mercy. But I don't read the comics either. My opinions come from the vague general sort of knowledge that pop culture has provided. And the Lex of Smallville, raised by Lionel Luthor, does not seem to hold mercy as a particularly high value.

I agree. I think he'd be afraid he was "imposing his will" on humanity. I think he'd leave the mercy up to "the people".
I picked mercy for Lex but its a close call. I was tempted to add a "neither" category for him.
