I often look at my financial statments and say WTF! Then I go back and try to think of what the hell I did with it all, I make a good wage, but I never seem to have enough. Would it help you to not give it away if you didn't actually keep the green stuff on you? I never have actual cash. Just seems like it would be more difficult to do the reverse pickpocket without it.

I used to always pay for other people to come to the movies or out to eat with me. I still do it sometimes 'coz I like to go out with my friends, but I no longer have people who assume that I'll cover their costs hanging around all the time.

I like to use the oxygen-mask-on-an-airplane analogy in a situation like this, where my instinct is to help others first, even if it is detrimental to me. When you fly on an airplane, they tell you that, if oxygen masks are required, you always put yours on before helping someone else put on theirs. You can't help anyone else if you're suffocating yourself. I find I use this analogy quite a bit, and it really helps put things in perspective. Good luck; you and your brother are very similar in this respect :)
