[Player name] Nammah
[Age] 25
[Personal Journal] bluenaga

[Character name] Medusa Gorgon
[Age] Known to be at least eight hundred years old.
[Canon] Soul Eater manga
[Point in time taken from canon] Chapter 83 “Wjereabouts”.

[Background] Step right in.

[Personality] There are many ways to describe this woman. She's a witch. She's corruption. She may be the atypical user of men that poetry and tales warned about before the Renaissance.

These statements may or may not be true, but one fact is clear: Medusa is dangerous. Not because of the power she wields, like it is with most stories. But the fact that she is both a skilled actress, and even more skilled manipulator. Medusa is used to pulling on masks and lies as easy as breathing. If it suits her purpose, she will twist the truth to suit her whims. She is so skilled in this, that she was able to keep the facade of a human doctor in the prime witch hunting grounds for years, within Death City and its school, Shibusen academy.

Of course, this does not mean she does anything on a whim. All of what she does is with careful planning, backups within backups. Being so long lived, she has made a study of human reactions and emotions, rationally planning for various reactions and how to get the reaction she wants. Even in places where she is not expected to be trusted. Take, for example, how she was able to enter Shibusen once again. She had a little girl as hostage, calmly offering information on other witches in the area, and furthermore, using the student team to defeat her sister and regain a Gorgon body of her own.

One could point out that her family, or lack thereof, could be part of why she is so cold and rational. Between the three sisters that have been seen in Soul Eater and Soul Eater Not, there is no claim of love, only rivalry. This could explain how she seems to look down on love and affection, and is unable to express it for anything other then gain-or at the point of death. She claimed to love Stein after he killed her, and Crona before he chopped her into pieces. It is almost, in a way, like a confession she wills herself to say before her death. Stein was due to the creativity and sadism that they shared; Crona, due to being her only child and perhaps her finest result in her research.

Medusa does seem to be quite different from other witches that appear within the series. Their race, if not species, is driven by what is known as “The sway of destruction”. The more magic one uses, the greater the urge, or the psychological need to destroy, and create chaos. This of course has led to many witches deaths. This does not mean Medusa suppresses the call within her though. Instead, she channels it in a longer, meandering route, and believes that this world is stale, unmoving. Her motivation to bring the Kishin back to life? To see if there would be changes, evolutions. Things unexpected, that would cure the segmentation of the world. And with the events that have currently unfolded-the raise and fall of her sister, Crona's path into becoming kishin, the fights that have been spreading throughout the world-things have become quite interesting indeed.

Though Medusa may seem to be all about her lofty goals, and using people, she does have her human moments. She has been known to get annoyed about little things-the discussion of panties, by Spirit and Death for one. She has joked around Eruka and how nice she feels on her feet in the most mocking of ways. Medusa, though rarely surprised, has been known to be shocked by the madness attacks of Justin Law. She's not the kind of person to fool around, or tolerate it much. Her jokes are more of the mocking kind, to declare her supiority over that person. Really, there are few that she truly respects, or loves, as mentioned before. Perhaps those that would fall under the latter category is Maabaa, Queen of Witches and Death himself.

As for love...that may or may not be Crona and Stein, for various reasons. Medusa is not the type of person that confesses her true self or emotions easily. She does, however, admit to pleasure in a sadistic setting (physical or emotional) or in when her plans go as they should. She does not allow herself to overindulge in them though-a laugh perhaps, or a small smirk of triumph. Self contained, determined, and in charge of herself: that is the Medusa she will always display to the outside world.

That of her lesser known traits-her love, her guilt for hurting Crona so much, the affection-those will only be displayed for the very few, if any within any setting.

[Abilities]
Being one of the main villains of the series, that means that…well, she’s no weakling. As a witch, she has access to magic. As due to her age, she’s had a long time to develop her skills. They are as follow:
Martial arts: Though not extensive, they are remarkable, as she is able to-at least for some of the time-hold her own against Stein in a physical fight. Witches often do not rely on physical prowess if they can help it. Still, she has a healthy body to go with a healthy mind. Her physical fighting style relies on her tail and hard soled feet. What we’ve seen is a mostly defensive form of it, but it was enough to impress Stein.
Deception: I bring this up because this is a strong ability of hers-one of the best, and most dangerous. She was able to fool many at Shibusen-including Death-into thinking she was merely human with the skills of a school doctor. Even after her race is revealed, she is able to fool Maka and the others into thinking her desire to take her sister’s organization down was not to possess Archane’s body for herself but to rescue her daughter.
Researcher: She has been studying madness, the black blood, and the Kishin situation for years. In this, she may be one of the few experts of the field, other than the book of Eibon’s Noah, or the great eight warriors.
Doctor: Though it was only part of a disguise, she did have the abilities to use mundane drugs, herbs, and other skills in order to qualify as the Shibusen’s school doctor (not to mention create medications to suit her own ambitions).
Witch/spells:Part of her witch powers relies on vectors, and snakes. Often while using these powers, she needs to chant a mantra, like most of her kind. Hers is “Snake nake cobra cobura”. There are times where she does not use them. Those shall be listed with the other powers below.
Serpent Whip: Medusa extends one of her snake tattoos to strike from afar.
Vector Arrow: Attacks with a flurry of arrows directed at the opponent (which are now interconnected by a web).
Analysis Disassemble: Using numerous Vector Arrows, Medusa is able to pull things, such as a magical coating, apart.
Steam Vector: This attack surrounds Medusa with her Vector Arrows making a spinning, tornado like shield. She has also displayed the ability to compress the Vector Arrows following this attack on command, to surround and crush an opponent.
Snake Bomb: Places one of thousands of snakes from her body into someone else; it will only detonate when she gives the signal. She may also use the snake to spy, or increase madness.
Vector Boost: A magic that doubles the power drawn in the direction of the arrow.
Vector Conduct: A spell technique used to allow someone to see hidden arrows that Medusa has placed to guide them.
Vector Plate: A technique that places an arrow upon the ground which launches whoever stands over it in the direction that it is pointing.
Arithmetic Magic: Magic Calculation: is a spell used by Witches as a 'place maker' for placing the exact coordinates of a magical spell. The spell is especially useful in Spatial Magic when precise coordinates and area measurements are crucial for the spell's successful execution, or when opening a portal into another dimension and connecting two dimensions. It appears that a requirement of this ability is the adoption of an unusual stance in operation, and cooperation in order to fulfill the exact requirements. In Medusa’s usage of the spell, small representations of her magic appear while conducting the spell and long strands of arithmetic equations coil around each other upon the spell's execution.
Soul Possession: Medusa is able to possess a body, and use it for her own, with no or little resistance from the original owner.
Spying long distance: An unnamed spell allows for Medusa to observe Crona and others with her glass ball. She is usually seen sitting cross legged, and focusing on the images that appear.
Madness fusion: Using her kishin and madness inspired creations with the use of the black blood, she has enabled a boost for herself and for Crona in battle. It may vary due to application or personality type; however, in the use Medusa has used for it, is a mobile version for herself in orer to ward off a madness attack, or fused with her tattooed snakes, in order to boost their attacks (or perhaps only the mad can attack the mad; it isn’t entirely clear). Though she does not waver personality wise, her serpant whip does take on a larger, crested form. With Crona using the black clown, she gains not an attack boost, but a defensive armor that encircles the torso region.
Racial abilities:
Soul Protect: As the witches' soul wavelength can be easily distinguished by trained meisters, they developed an incantation named "soul protect" which conceals their presence, but renders them unable to use their powers unless the incantation is lifted.
Flight: Most, if not all, witches have the ability to fly. This done by simply floating in the air, or flying on a broomstick. (Medusa usually uses a broomstick if she flies at all)
Spiritual Flexibility: There have been instances in which witches have a high understanding of soul wavelengths -- enough so that they can break their soul into small fragments and reform in due time, as emulated by both Medusa and Arachne.
Meister Capabilities: Although it is unlikely for a witch to partner with a weapon due to strife between them and Shibusen, it is feasible for a witch to use a weapon. Kim Diehl, for example, is a lamp meister.
Longevity: Witches, at least the powerful ones, appear to have incredibly long life spans. Medusa is known to have lived 800 years before the start of the series. Even after eight centuries, Medusa still has the appearance of a young woman. Both Risa and Arisa confirmed that witches have a longer lifespan and so have more youth.
Telepathy: It seems that witches, or those with witch blood, are able to converse with each other over long distances by mind to mind. Crona, Eruka, and Medusa have been seen using this ability in the manga.

[Other important stuff] She won't be able to do any of her madness based fusions/projects without the black blood. Any attacks of hers will be weaker from the onset, and she will not be able to keep using her powers for more then five mintues every hour.

If she wishes to fly, or spy with the orb or broom, she would have to not only find substitutes, but they will need further concentration. Use of combination of her broom/orb/powers in a day will zap her out for a week. A combination of the two will tire her for at least two days.

Telepathy will be non existent, and any use of her snakes will be clarified with both player and mods, whether in the use of spying or inspiring. She will not be able to kill with her snakes.

Furthermore, she will not be able to possess anyone, or cheat death.

[First Person]

[The video opens to a black haired woman, her eyes partially open. It seems she is tired, perhaps waking up. What would be the reason for said nap? Reading all night, from the shattering of papers all around her.At first it appears she will do nothing but sleep-but then she speaks up, thinking out loud. Her voice is soft, musing, as she throws her hand over her eyes.]

Dreams. All the notes, the documents, the hints...they allude to the power of dreams. It's perfectly logical, isn't it? What motivates humans. Someone might say wishes, others may say despair. But dreams, whatever they may be...they are always there. And they can always be abused to make a line between good and evil. The naïve and the stubborn.

[She takes that moment to stretch her body, her head turning towards the camera-and she pauses, just for a moment. Medusa has to come closer to the phone device for a better look. Ah. It turned itself on. For a moment her eyes flash. And her pupils...seem to be slitted. She's annoyed.]

I didn't say I wanted you to be on, Dreamberry. I share my research with no one.

[And with that, she firmly turns the device off. ]

[Third Person]
There was only so much papers could do. Medusa Gorgon, Gorgon sister, creator of the black blood, vector witch and former school doctor...could do little with the information she had already had. These, she had decided, were scraps. Little hints and pieces that could only be parts of the larger mystery. The teases. They gave enough to nibble at, but nothing to satisfy.

But this was what made her decide to leave the comfort of her lab, and go out onto the streets. There were a number of things that she could try. There were the inactive golems, the dangerous desert...the sink hole and the floating mountain. But considering the amount that could be explored-and unsure what little she could get away with unobserved-she set up to wander without a set course. It would be the first run. Just to see what would be the best place to explore at the moment.

It was cold outside; she could feel it through her feet, felt the mental scream as she stepped into an icy puddle. But like most everyday pains, the witch ignored it. Instead, she drew up her hood, and started to walk through the snowy city. There were people everywhere, and some of them were the Drained. Not that anyone else called them such a thing; they were merely referred to as ghosts. The thought of these creature people being called ghosts made her want to snort. She had seen ghosts before, in her world. She had seen those recently dead, those that clung to the wrong side, and those about to be devoured. They weren't ghosts.

In Medusa's idle observation of a 'ghost' walking through another person, she did not realize the predicament she was about to face. There was a rabbit-not the cute fluffy kind that she had Crona kill. Oh no. This one decided that it wanted a Medusa foot for lunch, and bit her ankle.

The reaction was intimidate; the witch yelped in shock, jumped away, and peered down to see what had caused such pain. And there was the rabbit, munching away on a bit of vector witch. She could see a bit of blood drooling down its tiny chin.

This would not do. And there would be no need to reveal her abilities either. With a slight tightening of her lips, she drew her foot back, and kicked, hard. There was a satisfying squeal of dismay, and the fluffy carnivorous bunny went flying. She tugged her hood back on then, and tried to walk on, dismissing the pain from the bite. Just another lesson that she had to be careful about. This was no longer home, and there were things out here that would hurt her at a moments notice.

No wonder she hated rabbits so much.

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Honestly, this kind of place with its giant mystery and few that would oppose her...it's a playground for Medusa, really. I've played her in a setting before where she was very cautious, doing her nurse persona for the most part. I'd love to have her being more of her true self, and be smacked down by the other characters, one way or the other.
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] The whole dealing with OCC and wank section. It's mature, fair, and it displays how serious you guys are in making sure this place stays fun.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] I've been seeing it on my plurk for awhile but you can blame Michi for this one.
[Any questions?] Just if it would be all right for Medusa to attempt exploring on her own. Or better yet, with a willing (or unwilling) ally.
