Met with my advisor today and I was actually feeling kind of hopeful. We were going over my presentation for comps and I knew there were still some areas that needed fleshing out, but didn't think they were that big a deal. After an hour and a half, J looks at me and asks how set am I on having my comps next week? WTF. Apparently he doesn't

Arggghhh! That is so not cool.

My ticket arrived yesterday, too. *happy dance* My flight is arriving in Burbank around 9:45am. I should be at the hotel by 10:30 I imagine. Time enough to stow my stuff at the front desk (as I imagine we won't be able to check into the room until the afternoon sometime) and get registered for the con.

I think I'm getting in around 9. (Why I picked such an early flight I don't know). I'm excited but feeling a smidge guilty - I just found out about a memorial service for a close family friend that Sat. - I told my parents I couldn't go 'cause I was going out of town with some friends (I suppose I could cancel, but...) It would be a day's trip to Sierra Vista for the service.

Ouch. On the one hand, this trip's been planned payed for for quite a while. On the other hand, it's a family friend... I feel for you.

Well, it's my 90 year old 'uncle' - he and his wife were the parents of one of my mom's best friends and have remained close to my parents even after their daughter died about 25 years ago. I think my parents are ok with me not going (it's a leave early in the morning, drive to the service, then drive home) and since I'm not particularly close to the rest of Herb's family.
