J.J. Abrams is BRILLIANT!

B R I L L I A N T ! ! !

Absolutely brilliant. I fell in love with Alias immediately after seeing it for the first time. I was shocked by the episode and how well written it was. The characters, despite not knowing a thing about them, were charismatic. The story was great.. (SRSLY - with the exception of the last 25 ( Read more... )

Oh, and the only thing I'd add to being a movie/tv series/book/music addict is... take it and be creative. You're absorbing so much information that you're either not digesting and understanding it or you're a mad genius and need to cultivate an outward expression of your mind's specialization. Don't just absorb it, dance with it!

Maybe you already are in a private or some other manner I'm not aware... but if you're not, I'd consider that a tragedy. Us information sponges need to cultivate, remix, and spin our perspective out into the world. It's one of my favorite types of cranes. Don't just worship one's heroes from afar, become their peer and influence them back.

I would like to believe that I am taking it and being creative... but as my own worst critic, I am probably not allowing myself to see what I might really be producing or stifling the whole creative process in certain areas.

I've been writing in my journals again; doing a lot of doodles and drawings; started to use one of those drawing models; getting more feedback on my photography... which is why I've been so absent from the cyberworld.

I also would like to believe that it's paid off here at my job! I don't think I got promoted because I run around getting shit done, but because I have opinions and ideas! Right now I have to select my favorite action songs or sections of songs as part of my job! I think there's something about being able to listen to music as a critic but not be a musician... (which is Oliver Sack's arguement: do you have to be a musician to be knowledgeable in critiquing music?
