oh hello viktor krum! it's nice to see you about! hermione mentioned that she sent you a natter ages ago, i'm glad you finally decided to join us.
the biting part wears off. fred and george based the charms on, i don't know if you have it in bulgaria, but the Monster Book of Monsters? it's sort of alive...and has a bit of a temper if you don't write often enough to please it, most of us found out the hard way. there's a group you can join, ginny weasley is the founder, and it is called s.p.a.t.u.l.a...which stands for something about how you should treat your natter nicely and pet it and make it a bed or some such, i've forgotten. but anyway, yes, it's a bit like a yelpy, squirmy little dog until it gets to know you. it should stop biting soon enough.
don't leave just because of that though! really! we're all quite nice! except for a few of us, but that's beside the point.
Ah, hallo, fellow Natteringer -- your name, it says you are Lavendar Brown, yes? But yes, Hermione, she gave me this Nattering for Christmas last year, you know, at the party she had with the people. Um. There were lots of people, yes. At Hermione's. Yes.
But yes, um, Durmstrang did not require the Monster Book of Monsters as it is only in English, German, and some very strange dialect of Polish, but I have it in my library at home, you see, and I noticed only after it decided to go and eat my shoes that it was very much like it, which I am not very sure I am of the liking. However, Durmstrang does like a very large book in our seventh year that shows us advanced spells, but I hear that it is maybe perhaps forbidden at Hogwarts.
There is a group... a group that stands up for the rights of Natterings? This, you know, is bizzare strange odd disturbing interesting, but maybe perhaps I could ask Ginny Weasley to send me pamphlet on this? Does it give me good tips on making it stop to gnaw my ankle like it is trying to do right now even
( ... )
What kind? Um, it is my Nattering, is that what you mean by what kind? But everyone, it is saying that this book has personality, which is, how you say? Crazy, it is crazy, this! But it would be making sense, if it is so hungry and I leave it alone so long, it makes sense!
A LEAD. I must put a Nattering on a leash? I am not sure I want to call this book so much as unexpected pet!

your book. some are
quite evil but others
are truly lovely.
i've found that sometimes
a lead helps
them to
behave.

cranky people
with pages.
(you don't have to use a lead
mine just likes
that.)

(Mine will not have this lead, as you say. It is calmer today, maybe because it drinks lots of borcht?)
