Mincemeat in the slowcooker

Have any of you made mincemeat (the raisin and apple based pie filling -- not actual meat) in the slow cooker? I was looking at this Cook's Illustrated recipe, which calls for simmering on the stove for 3 hours, and thinking it might be easily modified to cook in the slow cooker

maybe you could reduce the cider on the stovetop before putting it in the crock, so it isn't as watery when you add it. i imagine you'd retain all the flavor.
