Phenomenal! I'd asked about a locavore vegan cookoff ages ago, but the mods didn't think it was the best idea. I'm so jazzed to have a go at this!

OH MAN it's even easier than i thought!
I just moved south to London, Ontario - 168km (104 miles) from here. Southernmost part of Canada, just about, and an enormous farming community.
So long as they've got spices, I'm golden...

With 300 /miles/ to go, I can be buying stuff from near London, ON and I live like 6 hours away.

300 miles isn't local. It is way farther than I would ever send my goods to market (the usual distance is just over 100 KM -- 104 to send the produce from my farm to Ottawa, 110 KM to Montreal).

Of course, the bulk of my harvest is not only over, but most of the fresh produce has been eaten, frozen or canned. Blast!

I see a lot of squash, onion, carrots, potatoes, apples and cabbage in my entry ;)

Whoops - looks like I skipped a few words there. I meant to say that Leamington, Ontario, 104m south of London, is the big farming community. They're in a different growing region than most of the rest of Canada, so they've got an extra six weeks of growing to their advantage.

I agree with Blueheron - 300m is pretty generous, unless you're living in Iqualuit or something. I'm sure I can pull off the challenge if I stay within half that, but I'm going to try and find some produce that's a little more local than Leamington if I can.
