Potato farl

Sep 13, 2010 01:55

I made some potato farl tonight because we have somanyfucking potatoes to be used up.
And I documented it for funsies!

Collect your beautiful potatoes

Select some sick beats

Peel and chop your beautiful potatoes

Fill your sink with gunk

Admire the colours

do it again

Add potatoes to salted boiling water. When soft, drain and add margarine (I also added a splash of almond milk, but it's not necessary)

mash the shit out of them. You want it to be nice and creamy, with no lumps

Add flour until it turns doughy (I added probably 2 or 3 cups?)

Roll out the dough until it's about a cm thick (or less)

Slice it up into your favorite design

Do not do this

Sprinkle a bit of flour onto a cast-iron pan, do not use oil. Fry them over medium-low heat, until brown and speckled on either side

enjoy plain, with margarine, or drowned in HP

I decidedly made this very plain and basic. A nice way to mix it up would be adding onion powder and maybe a little nutritional yeast during the mashing stage.

I put half of them in the freezer, and the other half in a container in the fridge. Potato farl forever!
