Vegan (fair-trade) sports bra?

Apr 08, 2013 14:46

I'll be having a breast reduction surgery in 2 weeks and one day, and I need a sturdy, comfortable sports bra for healing (and high impact sports in the distant future, hopefully). I might be willing to hope that if it's a color that isn't new, like black or white, they haven't gone and dropped the dye in rabbit eyes to see if it's harmful. A lot ( Read more... )

Google Decent Exposures (if I try to post a link, it flags my post as spam). They ship internationally. Made to order in Seattle, WA, USA, by workers paid a living wage. Organic options, and they are the most comfortable bras I have ever worn. Might not be fast enough, but it is exactly what you are looking for, I think.

Thanks! Yeah, I don't think it's fast enough, but I will mark that page for future. :)

Så du är svensk? Anyway, I wasn't aware that bras were tested on animals. I buy mine online (on bonprix, ellos etc) and I haven't read anything about them being tested. Of course these are relatively cheap.

Nej, jag är finsk. :P Just living here because of my boyfriend. I didn't mean the bras were tested on animals, just that the colours they use to dye them might be. I didn't know about this either until someone posted about it on probably this comm, or veganpeople, some time ago... well, that was about a packet of dye, not about clothes, but I don't want to risk it. But it seems like I'm getting a second-hand post-op bra from a fellow, er, reductionist, so to speak, lol. I just hope it arrives in time. :)

Understood. :) I noticed when I checked your profile.

This was really bad news. :( Now I'll have to bear that in mind whenever I buy clothes. I suppose the bra I was going to buy might be bleached (since it's all white), but I have no idea if that's anything to do with animal tests. Hm. I do know that Bonprix is and wants to be fur free. They also hardly sell anything made of leather. I've been in touch with them by email about that.

Yeah. :( I've been buying everything except socks and underwear second-hand for years. Cheap as hell and apart from the transportation to flea markets (and it would have had to be transported somewhere anyway at some point), it doesn't tax the environment in any way, I don't support big capitalist companies, slavery, animal torture, etc. etc. etc. Win-win!
...I don't know what to do about crafting though - dyeing clothes is one thing I (will) do, and what will I do when I run out dyes? Never dye anything again? Not to mention all the other stuff that might not be vegan - glues, papers (they use milk to make water colour paper!), paints, chalks, etc... :(

Maybe you can ask Bonprix for further information?
