I also find that it helps to take the pressure off myself a bit: for example, if I'm trying to motivate myself to go for a run, I tell myself I don't have to run for very long, or even (if I'm feeling really down) that I can just walk. Nine times out of ten, once I get out there I do whatever I'd planned to do, and even if I do end up just walking, I feel better for making the effort. It's a cliche, but showing up really is half the battle!
