Evey was nervous. She'd spent quite a bit of time on her appearance that day, which was not normal for her and had caused Ian to look at her suspiciously. There wasn't much one could do with 5 centimeters of hair, but she'd done her best to make it look tidy.

The clothes box had given her a floral patterned pastel sundress that was a little too tight in the top, but her other options were even worse, so she'd selected the lesser of two evils.

She poked her head into the rec room cautiously, since a significant portion of her was convinced that Peter wouldn't actually be there.

"Evey!" Peter greeted brightly from where he'd been perched atop one of the tables. He hopped immediately from the table and crossed to her, giving her a bit of a bow as he offered the flowers. "I have a confession to make," he said, schooling his face into a somber expression. "I picked those myself."

"Thank you Peter, they're lovely," she replied seriously, moving into the room since he was clearly here and trying not to look at all the corners, just in case.

"As are you," Peter pointed out, and while he knew it might seem like a bit of a line, it was absolutely sincere. "I like the dress. Rather impressed you went to that much trouble for me."
