I'm stupid.

I just now found out that Mcdonald's fries have beef extract in them. I've been vegetarian for a year, and apparently I'm a moron. I really should have known better, I just can't imagine a reason to add beef to french fries. Luckily, I don't really eat out much/like their fries much, so I've had them maybe once in the last year ( Read more... )

I've never trusted McDonald's fries. Or McDonald's in general. I know they don't fry them in bacon fat, but ever since I found out they used to, I stopped eating them.

eisenglass in Beers/wines, Cocheneil in some Bachelors supernoodles, Beef stock used to be used in Tomato soups, Rennet in many cheeses, Lard in pastries and in the UK certainly 2 maggots are allowed in each jar of tomato pasta sauce (the food industry is disgusting) other than that, I'm in pretty much the same boat as you.

I once wanted an egg McMuffin from Golden arches, I made the guy make one from scratch as he tried to slip off a slab of meat from one of the more common Muffins:@

Ugh, I hate it when non-veg*ns do that. Once, at my church spaghetti dinner, a lot of people were confused as to why I didn't want to simply eat around the meatballs that were in the sauce. Dx

See, that wouldn't bother me. When I lived with my non-vegetarian parents, and they cooked one-pot meals with meat in them, I'd simply eat around the meat. Why not? I get that it's a personal preference, but it's not like there are meat-cooties!

Oh, god. I've been a vegetarian for 13 years and I never knew this. Luckily, I tend to avoid fast-food joints for this exact reason, but still... ugh.

And I don't know how picky you are, but a lot of lipsticks have fish scales in them too. Not easy to be a veg*n these days!

If you're looking for vegan cosmetics, Lush is a good source. www.lush.com. They expressly state whether or not the cosmetics are vegan.
