Wow, that was kind of creepy to read. My video game experience the last two or three months has been IDENTICAL to yours. In particular, I also got Portal 2 on the console for the exact same reasons as you and then immediately couldn't play it on Steam/PC due to the outage. I eventually played through it on PS3 anyway and enjoyed it.
On top of that, I bought MK9 for the same reasons as you A) probably the same price drop on Amazon and B) I wanted to see if it could surprise me. It did (in a good way) and I still play online with a friend. It's not "perfect" or anything, but it's fun and that's all that matters. We should play together sometime. Do you have the PS3 version or 360?
