Fabulous!

Due to the large number of queer, queer-friendly, vegetarian, vegan and tollerant omni's who are on my friends page and because I spent last Sunday serving up lovely vegan food en masse at Pride Fair Day,  I thought some of you might be interested in this article:

I don't know whether or not it's my mood, but that article kind of seemed like it was saying that being queer is a choice or a lifestyle like veganism. :/ That's coming from a lesbian vegan. I didn't have a choice to be lesbian but I am choosing to be vegan as I love animals more than people and I don't want to hurt them.

Hmm, I thought that was the first point covered, that while being queer is not a choice, there is a choice made on how to project that identity to others.

I do think the analogy got rather frayed at times, though.

Somewhat relatedly... First Out in London should have more vegan options. What sort of vegetarian cafe has one vegan option?

The ones where there are lots of 100% vegan restaraunts in walking distance?

I've only been to First Out for hot drinks, never for food so don't know what their menu is like.

I've found it surprisingly difficult to get things like soy milk in cafes in the UK, even in Soho, and British friends are surprised that it's been almost a decade since I've struggled in Australia. It's like if a minority can be catered for in a totally devoted establishment there is no reason to cater for them elseware.

How much longer you going to be around. Also what's the best email address to get you on?

I liked some of the points of that article, but I didn't like how it ignored bi, trans, fluid and asexual people as part of the queer movement. I read it quickly, so maybe I missed it, but it seemed like it was like "Lesbians and gay men, yup, they're the only queers that exist." Um, no. Over here? *waves*

I get really shitty about the fact that many queers think that bi people have no place in the queer rights movement. A lot of the time it feels like we have a whole other kind of struggle - against the mainstream AND the queer community.

I have been complaining about this an awful lot recently. Hmm. Maybe I need to shut up a bit.
