I hate photobucket. It sucks. People seem to post photobucket pics and they don't show up. ...I don't know why, but it is always with Photobucket.
I use imageshack. I like it. But ... I haven't used anything else so...
We just save our pics on CDs. But to share with people you'd have to upload it. I'm not quite sure what you're asking.
Also that cow is adorable. We went to a Fair Trade Fair (where I got my shoes. :D) and they had two goats with a goatling each (goatling sounds cuter than kid). I hate goats because I was butted by one as a child, but the little goatlings were just so cute! even if they did have demonic rectangular pupils.
I'm using iphoto for the editing. I dont want to have to load a whole disk of pics to my machine every time I want to edit just one picture or want to just send one picture, thats all.
In essence the version of the photo in the post is a thumbnail. A largeish thumbnail but still a thumbnail.
Clicking on the image leads to a larger version in your galleries, clicking on that again leads to the full size version.
You may be able to control the image size in the post but I don't know how. I'm also not that fussed about learning how given that anyone who is interested is one or two clicks away from progressively larger images.
Having said that, if LJ is scaling the default thumbnail up to whatever size you're picking (instead of scaling the original image down), it might produce the effect you're seeing.

Baby farm animals are gorgeous :)

is that because you used lj's 'upload photo/upload to post' option?
