Best Actor in a Television Series, Drama. Really wanted Hugh Laurie or Bryan Cranston to win (surprise, surprise). Or Jon Hamm, because even though Don Draper's a bastard, JH's portrayal makes him kind of a charming one. Speaking of Jon Hamm, he has the most embarrassed, shy expression whenever his name is even mentioned. It's really quite adorable and endearing. I still remember his embarrassed laugh when NPH mentioned his name in the opening song of the 2009 Emmy's.Consider me smitten.
Best Director - Motion Picture. So, even though I don't get all the hype for The Social Network (to be fair, I haven't watched it; but I don't care for a movie about FB), I can't be displeased over David Fincher's win. He will forever have a special place in my heart for the brilliance of Fight Club. Honestly, thought, I wouldn't have been opposed to Darren Aronofsky winning for Black Swan.
Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. Really wanted Mila Kunis to win. I just love her, and she was fantastic in Black Swan (and so was everything else about it).
Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama. This is the one category where I was absolutely thrilled for the win. Yes, Natalie Portman! So well deserved. She was up against a bunch of talented actresses, all of whom I like, but I'm glad she was the one to get it. She seemed so humbled and shocked when they called her name, I was expecting her to burst into tears on stage. At any rate, she is always eloquent and classy. And that joke she made about her fiancé? Priceless. I was thinking the same thing when I realized who he was in the movie. :DD Anyway, congrats to her on the fantastic year she seems to be having.
Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama. I really couldn't decide between James Franco and Ryan Gosling, to be honest. Colin Firth is a swell actor, and even though I haven't seen the movie I'm sure his performance was deserving, but I really wanted one of them to win. I'm still upset Ryan didn't get that Oscar for Half Nelson. (Actually, there are so many movies he didn't even get noms for, it's ridiculous. The guy's proved himself to be one of the best actors around with The Believer, at the ripe age of 21.)
Other things:
• Olivia Wilde, you are stunning. Stunning. I don't care for sequined/jeweled dresses, but you could be wearing a garbage bag and I wouldn't mind. You can wear nothing and I'd be thrilled. I was bummed she got stuck presenting with Robert Pattinson, but I didn't even notice him when they walked in together. She stole the show. Did he even speak? Don't know; don't care.
• Robert Downey Junior, you are still king of hilarious, inappropriate speeches. Glad he didn't go after Emma Stone, though; that'd be a bit too much.I found it highly amusing that Angelina was all "lolwat" when he mentioned her, while Brad was all ":DDD" I'd be down for that threesome. I'm just sayin'. Speaking of the Jolie-Pitts, I found it utterly adorable when Angie was fixing Brad's bowtie during commercials.
• Julianne Moore is still absolutely gorgeous (and I loved how supportive of each other she and Annette Bening seem). So is Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock.
