It's a long one.

So I believe that I am in a funk because I just don't know what to do with my life.  I have never known what to do with my life.  I totally envy those people that are passionate about something.  They know what they wanna devote their whole selves to & that's that.  I think that would be the best thing ever.

My career goals have changed daily since ( Read more... )

Awwww sweetness..... you sound so much like my daughter, Heaven.
She's 27 and been going thru the exact same thing as long as I can remember. She started college right after high school and has changed her major a thousand times but you know what I say? That it doesn't matter because education is never a waste AND ... I think it's totally cool that you and she are interested in so many things and have the ability to actually get INTO all kinza stuff. These are all choices that women didn't always have, and talents that most people DON'T have. So many people go to their jobs day after day and HATE it but never have the opportunity or balls to change it.

You still have SO much of your life ahead of you and you can do ANYthing with it. I have faith in you... you're a sparkling girl and you DO have passion... I've seen it.

So. Now that you've had the "mother" lecture.... {LOL} you go on and stop worrying about everything. It will come to you.

Hugzzz

ooooooh, I hear ya.

1. stop judging your daily career change thing. Just keep following interests--even if for only an hour. It's ok to follow things for pleasure.

2. you don't have to work towards anything. Just start with doing things for fun.

3. I don't buy the fear of success/failure thing. You are absolutely under no obligation to BE anything in this life. The finest people in life are frequently not remembered for any Thing they accomplished. Absolutely optional.

Play and have fun. Experiment. If you try to make something profitable or into a career, you will kill the magic. But first you have to find the magic. And that is absolutely optional as well.

but having said all that, if you don't mind, I think I will add you to my filter about life's work/passion and purpose. You aren't alone in your desire to find meaningful work. Where you are is more common than you can imagine.

Doing work that is unsatisfying just feels like it's killing my soul. I just wanna find that thing that makes me wanna get up in the morning, even if it lasts for only a few years. My inability to stick with anything drives me nuts.

HA! This is one of the main reasons that I am 31 and still in school! I have changed my mind so many times about being a lawyer, a psychiatrist, a forensic technician, a mortician, a teacher. You name it and I have thought of it...actually, you name it and I have probably studied a little of it.
And thats ok!

The really awesome thing is that you do have the ability to choose and it really boils down to getting busy and trying 1

I totally hear ya. I have been studying for a degree in psychology forever, but I don't even want it anymore. Action is very important. I need to do that & also look into completion.

Sweetie...I am 47 and have no idea what I want to do. Every good job, and advancement has fallen into my lap for the most part. That is life for most people I think; so you're not alone. However, action is the right thing...go to an try an online aptitude test. That may help. Also, think about the things you love doing for fun. Whatever you do, good luck. And if you find a formula that works to tell you what you want to be when you grow up...SHARE IT WITH ME! Hugs.

ok im just replying cause so much has been said. the falling in the lap-thing..i completely agree with that. I have a degree in HUMAN ECOLOGY for god's sake. LMAO. if life was so predictable, it might be boring? I don't know. I just accept that i have MANY interests and now, at this point in my life, I'm grateful for that.

I know I have a certain set of skills, but they aren't the things that make me happy. I want to get a new set of skills that give my life happiness, I just haven't figured out what that is yet.
I'll let you know when I find out what that formula is to soul success :)
