I'm pretty sure I neglected to mention it at the time :-/ This is the third time we've seen him :-) The first was at a tiny theatre in Stratford, where we were about ten feet from the stage; he was utterly hilarious, and I still think his act works better in a smaller, more intimate environment where he can interact with the audience a bit more. We saw him at the NIA in Birmingham a few years ago, and he was very funny then (I think that might have featured the famous "cake or death" routine); but I don't think he was well served by performing in a huge venue like that. This was the same place (and I was lucky both times to be able to get us seats near the front), and the staging worked better, with one huge screen directly behind him, so everyone had a good view.

Yeah, that's why I didn't go see him at the cavernous United Center a few months back. It still puzzles me...I don't know why he'd WANT to play a gig in a 75,000 seat arena.

We saw him in Amsterdam (apparently the smallest venue in on his entire tour), good fun, a few moments of genius, good stage setting.
