Finally, another day of hosting was over for the boys of the Twilight Town High School Host Club. The twins, Sora and Roxas, were taking their leave to home, as were Riku, Demyx, and Zexion, all filing out of the music room (which was rarely ever actually used as a music room, but no one really questioned it) until two boys were left standing, one looking out the window, the other tending to a plant in the corner.

Axel, known as the “Fiery Type”, was the one standing at the large windows, watching the people below, his hand curled over his mouth, eyes narrowed, obviously in a state of plotting. He tended to do this often in his quiet time. Plot, plot, and pout. But, as his label stated, he was a fiery teen, rarely staying still, his movements fast and unpredictable. It was these quiet plotting times that betrayed his type, where he stood still, never speaking.

Marluxia, known as the “Classic Type”, was tending to the corner plant, giving it water with special nutrients mixed in it to help the plant grow tall and healthy. It was almost an obsession with him, always concerned and fretting over the welfare of the plants. He stood up from his crouched position, and turned his gaze to the solemn form of Axel, his apathy towards him lifting for a second.

“What are you thinking about? It’s rare that you’re ever quiet.” he commented more than asked. Axel didn’t respond for a moment, just staring out the window.

“…the blossoms. They’re very pretty.” he murmured, almost detached. Marluxia perked up at the mention of flowers, and could not help that his curiosity took control of his feet and walked him next to the fiery redhead.

“Hm, that they are. Sakura blossoms usually are this time of year.”

“…But they’ll be gone soon, won’t they?”

Marluxia spared him a glance. “Yes, of course they will. Beauty such as this doesn’t last for long.”

Silence passed between them, Axel thinking and Marluxia spacing out. For once Axel seemed to be the only one in reality, his pink-haired classmate having been entranced by the petals drifting in the air and the blossoms blooming on the trees. Then…

“Marluxia.”

Marluxia looked at him, hearing his name, and was taken by surprise when he felt lips on his own. When Axel started to pull away, he was guessing it was an experiment, for he kissed him a second time, hesitantly.

And Marluxia wasn’t fond of being Axel’s guinea pig.

He slapped Axel hard, leaving a bright red handprint on his cheek. “I am not your toy!” he yelled and marched off, not giving Axel a chance to see the blush that had spread like wildfire over his face, and slammed the door shut behind him, disturbing some of the paintings on the wall.

Axel stood there, holding his stinging cheek. But he was grinning, and licked his lips in a cat-like manner. “That’s what you think,” he murmured, staring back out the window with an almost wicked smirk, “my little sakura blossom. You’ll keep coming back, never fully disappearing.”
