“Hey, Zexy? Can I ask you something?”
Zexion tilted his head towards the Melodious Nocturne, raising an eyebrow at him. The blond was holding a blank sheet of white paper as if it were an important document that Zexion had to see ASAP. He sighed, setting his book down and removing his rectangular-framed glasses.
“You already did, twice, but go on ahead.” he said dismissively, not entirely interested in what Demyx had to say about a piece of paper.
Demyx was bouncing with compressed excitement, but the serious, near-desperate look on his face led Zexion to wonder if the issue was a serious adult question or a serious child question.
“Can can can can you show me how to make a paper plane?” Demyx asked, holding out the paper to the shorter Nobody. Zexion blinked, processing just what he’d been asked.
“Would you mind saying that again, Demyx…?”
“Can you show me how to make a paper plane?”
Zexion still didn’t understand it. A plane made from paper? How absurd! “Demyx, I’ve never heard of such a thing.”
Demyx pouted, his arms dropping to his sides and his shoulders slumping with child-like sadness. “But…but I thought you would, since you’re so smart and all…”
Zexion had to force his eyes to not roll back into his head. Instead, he sighed. “Just because I am intelligent does not mean that I know everything.” he stated, eyes flicking to the book in his lap, wanting to continue reading it.
The blond gave a sigh of his own, though it sounded more heavy and disappointed that the exasperated one Zexion had always released. “Okay…I’ll go ask Lexaeus…” he murmured, sulking.
Zexion may have been without a heart, but he knew when to be sorry. “Demyx…come here.” he spoke softly while putting his book on the coffee table. Demyx looked up, cocking his head to the side.
“Huh?”
The little Nobody looked up, smiling his rare smile. “We’ll figure it out. And if we can’t, we’ll go ask Lexaeus.”
Demyx beamed with happiness, and excitedly, like a kid let loose in a candy shop, plopped down on the floor next to Zexion’s chair, slapping the paper on the table. He started folding the paper randomly while Zexion tried to stop him, repeating how it was “more logical to think this out”.
In the end it didn’t matter how much they planned it out; Lexaeus was soon greeted by them both, Demyx holding the creased and crumpled sheet and Zexion calmly explaining the situation to him.
