So, I have been at my job at Loyola for about 8 months now and yesterday was my first, annual performance review. I have to say that it was pretty stressful when I went through my three month probationary period review and this is just that much more stressful (although if I got a bad three month review I wouldn't have kept my job, but this one ( Read more... )

Congratulations on surviving the job review! Being judged is stressful, especially when you've tried the best you can and am not sure if it is good enough. Those Loyola blokes are lucky to have you, I hope they realize it!

My mom had a dream filled with puppets the night before I left for the longest-day-in-the-world audition. And it was totally accurate; she predicted what happened in as far as what I would end up deciding about the job. Dreams are wierd. I am glad your bloody horror movie review did not come to pass, however.

Rock on with your Monkey Boy powerz!

I'm telling you - this is the time for crazy job dreams! When my boss and I were talking he told me that he felt I was too hard on myself and that while we both indicated my problems, that there were many more quality, productive things that I have done for the office (that unfortunately neither of us could remember - I said "Well, you remember the problems so that you can learn from them." He rolled his eyes at me. :)).

That's a long process for a review. good heavens!

Once, when I was working the deli-counter at Mars Supermarket, I had this crazy dream where I was slicing some Ham or something, and Joanne Klein comes riding by on a horse, all naked like Lady Godiva, and reminds me that I have a test next week, and that I'd better study.

Kudos, Josh. May whatever God/Gods you find faith in smile their blessings upon you.

I think I remember you telling me about that dream and I have to say that, as much as I love Joanne, that is kinda scary.

I think you summed it up in your boss's statement: "You're too hard on yourself."

You aren't just sliding by in this job, you aren't just squeaking. You are excelling, and you know it . . . you have made your boss's job easier because you handle his (loveable) wackiness and zeal for his responsibilities and the mix-ups it causes. You wrap things up in nice bows for your scatterbrained supervisor and on the few occasions your ministry doesn't result in manageable bows, you still manage to leave the stress at work.
