Totally. I keep seeing these really amazing 2D animated projects coming out of Europe--mostly France--that have me weeping with want and WHY IS THIS NOT WHAT WE'RE DOING ANYMORE?? If I had my way I'd be in for 2D all the way, and generally would like to think I'd do it any way or by any standard that was called for. But I think the sad truth is that I'm probably too born and bred into the mainstream US/Disney convention to be of much success with anything else >_> I'd rather be a cog in the machine than the director, which means studio, which means more likely than not, well...
Let's see, I'm taking the (Advanced-)Advanced Maya Animation class, wherein the prof has decreed a ban on my beloved Norman rig and given us a brand new, in-development rig to figure out (also I've discovered that although installing Maya2011 on my machine fixed a lot of the problems I had with Maya2010, it also won't render/playblast my scenes. Decisions, decisions..)
I'm also taking the Flash class they wanted Art118+ students taking, and it is super
