1. Virtually every website I visit is plastered with ads for BlogHer
2. I assume these ads are targeted to my demographic
3. Yet, I am so completely uninterested in BlogHer that I can't even express it
4. Are the ad-targeters failing? Or I am just an aberration?

Or they could have called it "New-Media Douchebagettes" (baguettes?)
BlogHer is now funded by venture capitalists, who are gonna want to see some commercial growth. It looks like the only successful commercial product of BlogHer is in fact their ad network, which you are probably experiencing.
