Every time I go to the gym, there is this woman there. I would guess she is mid to late 30's, about 5'5 to 5'7 and about 90 pounds (if that). It's hard to tell because she wears a baggy long sleeve shirt. But she does wear shorts and her legs are quite tiny. She's got that head too big for her body look. She is always there when I arrive, on the ( Read more... )

From my own personal experience I'd tell you to stay out of it. Even when I've approached people I know who love me and know I love them, they get all pissed off ..even more so if there really is a problem.

I doubt you could do anything to help her, and you'd probably just get yelled at.

i agree - its a hard thing to deal with, and being a stranger, even a concerned one, isnt gonna help. i have noticed these kinds of women at my school gym, and its painful to watch, really.

i would leave her alone. that kind of thing is intensely personal, and saying something before she was ready for it might make her worse.

your concern is commendable but people have to get to these things on their own terms...it's just how it is (in my opinion)

I would talk to the Bally staff about it, but don't approach her on your own.

Wow, seriously can't believe how many people said stay out of it...while I tend to agree, you should absolutely approach the staff or a trainer. They have a lot of people to watch out for and probably missed her in the shuffle. If they don't do anything about it, at least you know you did your best. You could follow her and slip a note in her locker while she is working out with the number or name of a support group. She also might not know it's a problem.
