Ugh. I never get people who think shame is going to motivate me to do something. No, it only makes me feel like shit and makes me want to go bury my head in the cookie box!

:)

I love the "You Can Do It" book, btw. I've been wanting to buy a copy for a while now!

1) i want the merit badge book! i remember reading about how the original author's sisters finished it up and published it after she died on united flight 93 on 9/11, and i wanted to read it then, but after reading about it on amazon just now ('cause you mentioned it), i really want to read it!

2) yeaaaah, shame does NOT make me perform better. it makes me cry and feel crappy and never come back to class at all. i imagine people who do this to other people in public are also the same people who use shame to make their children perform the way they want them to. it makes me grr.

So love 6 ft under...such a good show...and loved sex n the city. now (since they are gone) it's Huff and Big Love that occupy my tv watchings - and WEEDS when it's on. Love me some weeds (the show not the real thing)

OH and if you thought Antje was hot before, you should see her new pic on her myspace, I want to make that my backdrop on my computer - HOTNESS! New Cd on 4/28! So excited!

Girlyman and Pureka in 1 week from Saturday!

Congrats on the spinning! such dedication :) if I read your lj long enough it might inspire me to head to the gym heheh

See, this is part of the reason I have avoided going back to a couple of classes at my gym. The instructor just gets mad when I ask for modifications because of my wrist problems (due to having broken it) or my knee problems. She acts like I'm faking it or something. The thing with my wrist - it's never going to be 100% better, and it's not because I'm not trying hard enough, which is what she seems to think - it's because the fucking BONE IS WEAK.

Ugh. I should do my own rant on this, not fill up your LJ. ;)

yeah that is lame she won't give you modifications! i just make up my own, like in my weight lifting class, i cannot put the barbell on the back of my neck and do squats. it hurts my knees and my neck too much. so i just hold 5 pound hand weights and do squats while everyone else has huge barbells resting on the backs of their necks. i have found my teachers generally to be pretty accomodating when i asked if what i was doing was okay instead of what they were doing. don't let a dumb teacher keep you out of the gym though! if she won't tell you what to do, ask another teacher or experiment yourself until you find something not painful.

I'd probably say something to the Bally's manager. They probably aren't trained to do that. I used to spin a lot, and while some instructors kept asking you to turn up the resistance, they didn't monitor it. In fact, that is supposed to be the beauty of spinning, in that you can take people at all different levels in the very same class, and by adjusting the resistance, they can all get an appropriate workout. This instructor sounds like a jerk... and, they do work on a comission, I believe, so while the good trainers care about their clients and ultimately go out on their own and do private training, you get a lot of stinkers in a Bally's setting. Glad to hear your motivation is still up, though! If I could just gain some of that by osmosis, that would be great!
