i agree eating healthy, exercising, etc are all good.
Doing these things doesn't seem to effect my weight that much. My lifestyle has drastically changed in the last few years and..well..outside of EXTREME measures..having a healthy lifestyle does nothing for my waistline. It does however make me happy and healthier in other ways.
living with being heavier? i think its really hard when you are not in the position of being constantly discriminated against to understand what it is like.
i was upset once when this twig made an insensitive comment at a party i was at ' i would rather have cancer than be fat'
I think it goes to show you what fat people suffer in this society that chica would rather have her life in jeopardy than be considered fat.
"weight and health are not correlated enough to imply that weight causes health problems."
often enough it's the opposite - it's other health problems causing the weight gain or loss.
hearing the simplistic assumption over and over that every extra pound makes a person unhealthier does make one want to scream. especially if that pound might be a pound of muscle instead of one of fat.
I have been following this particular thread in your journal with interest... and I was wondering, is there any good place to educate myself? I mean, I am sure it is not as simple as just one site or article, but I *do* want to know what's up. I wasn't even aware that research had advanced so far, which is pretty sad... :(
