Thoughts on Jessica Jones season 2

The trailor for season two of Jessica Jones has dropped, along with some set photos. Said photos mean I'm thinking about certain casting revelations that were revealed some months ago.

So, David Tennant will be back as Kilgrave. No word on whether Kilgrave will be back in the flesh, or if he'll be limited to flashbacks and/or Jessica's hallucinations.

I hope to hell he'll only be back in Jessica's mind, but, to be honest, I don't want him back in any way shape or form. I would have loved nothing more than for season two to be Kilgrave free.

Part of the power of season one was Jessica getting to win. She beat Kilgrave. Throughout the whole season, Kilgrave was certain he had more power than Jessica. The moment when she snapped his neck? Taught him how very wrong he was.

Now, obviously killing Kilgrave doesn't magically fix Jessica's trauma. But The Defenders did a good job of showing that she was still battling PTSD and self-medicating with alcohol, without needing her to hallucinate Kilgrave.

I want her to move away from Kilgrave, slowly but surely. Remember that scene at the end of Labyrinth? "You have no power over me." That's what I want for Jessica.*

And I DEFINITELY don't want him to be one of those villains that just won't die. Let him be dead. And let Jessica pursue other story avenues. Because otherwise he wins. No matter how many times Jessica defeats him, if he stays at the center of the story, he wins.

For my will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom as great.
You have no power over me.

(*Also, I'm now seeing parallels between Labyrinth and Jessica Jones."Just let me rule you, and you can have everything that you want." and "Just fear me, love me, do as I say, and I will be your slave!" absolutely sound like things Kilgrave would say to Jessica.)
