I think most people are blasé about death because there was little one could do about it throughout most of our evolutionary past. Dwelling on it too much might make you too anxious or depressed, thereby reducing your effectiveness at your daily tasks. Unfortunately, now that have at least some chance of preventing aging and death, what was once an adaptive trait is now counterproductive.

I think that definitely has something to do with it. And maybe crowd mentality too. He may have (had?) a bigger chance of survival if there were fewer people. It just makes me sad. And although I won't fall into a deep depression from this, I probably will refresh my first aid and cpr knowledge. And work on being a better more responsive person. I like to treat others how I would wish to be treated.

Are you still seeing his eyes?
Thank him, tell him he was loved, close his eyes and say goodbye.
Death is the biggest motivator for life.

You did something, you alerted someone to call the medics.

Aww hun, I'm sorry, that's crappy. It's also sad to think his family wasn't there (assuming he had one). What a bad phone call to get...

You should be concerned about your ice boogers.

We were there and gone in the blink of an eye and only saw family. I miss you! I'm going to be in Santa Monica the first part of June, and then, G and I will be in San Diego....So hopefully I'll see you around.

I'll be on the Atlantic coast for a week or so starting June 17, but would love to help sell your art in Venice or something if you want before that...
