I don't think anyone just throws away the spare parts. Maybe you can try selling them? Or if you know anyone who needs an extra pair of hands than just give them the hands as a gift.
I don't think people throw away parts either, as it would be wasteful. I know one of my dolls has very unattractive hands, and if I ever manage to get new ones, I wouldn't want to keep or sell them, as they're poorly sculpted.
Hopefully both of us will give our lj's more attention. I kind of want to keep and sell spare parts, partly because I don't know how well they will sell.
I would like to try and make my own wigs, but it's too daunting for me! I actually was wondering how people manage to cut the fur without it ending up everywhere.
haha that it is! i am not sure but do i have yours :o?
i think unless it's a trendy doll or a sought after piece you won't have to much successes v____v or unless you get lucky and you find someone looking for the specific parts!
it's not that hard! through there will be a bit of shedding regardless xD
the trick is to use a sharp exact-o knife and cut form the reverse side, the one without hair (this is true for all fur and fo fur fabrics) if you use scissors you will almost defiantly end up cutting fibres you didn't intend to and the wig will have odd short haired spots! you CAN use scissors but it takes a lot more effort so not worth it :P
Ah, yeah I would have used scissors. I see all those really pretty mohair wigs, and I always wondered how they piece it together nicely. I just can't create such things! XD
Spare parts pop up in the DoA marketplace time to time... If they sell is another story. I'm big on not holding onto things I won't use, so I'd try selling.

mohair wigs are actually really easy to make, all mine i made my self, just as long as you know how to cut fur!

I love Doll Chateau's style. I like Bella in that size. I want to see those dolls in person.
