The Good News of the day: I've been offered a retail management job at a fairly nice, British-owned company, with good benefits and a reasonable rate of pay. They are willing to work with my kid/college schedule.

Things have been very up-and-down lately. My always precarious financial situation has taken a turn for the worse, but it's gotten me motivated to finally try freelance writing for money (got a couple of bids going, nothing for real money yet, but a few dollars and a portfolio piece will help me in the long run).
