Ah, it's been a while. I have been writing, though it's writing down the exploits of my band of adventurers as I solo Dungeons and Dragons. Of course, John and Rodney are among them.
Fanfic
I wrote 294963 words in January through May:
Flights of Fancy PG. John/Rodney. 11434 words in January (total 16k). Contemporary AU. John is flight instructor and offers private flights. Rodney is recently divorced with a daughter who loves flying. (For McSheplets prompt "Boss")
Moressath (WIP) R (violence). John/Rodney. OFC/OMC. 260k words. This is my first group of D&D adventurers, consisting of John, the elven rogue, Rodney, the human wizard, Teyla, the elven ranger, Ronon, the human fighter, Eleris, the human cleric, and Loren, the human druid. I've leveled them through to level 10 and then suspended the campaign to get a feel for the rest of the classes in the Player's Handbook. This is written in prosa, but apart from editing it needs a lot of trimming/rewriting of the combat, because reading line after line of who hit whom or missed an attack would be exceptionally boring (I imagine). And it might just not be meant to be posted at all. The focus is very clearly on their adventures and the John/Rodney is seldom touched upon. Moressath is the name of their adventuring group.
Adequate Gifts PG-13. John/Rodney. 492 words. Established Relationship. John doesn't have a birthday gift for Rodney. Rodney is still grateful. (For McSheplets prompt "Bonus")
@LJ @AO3 Outsiders (WIP) R?. No pairings so far, but Bren/Mer is to be expected. 24k so far. This is the group I started after leveling the others to 10. I'm playing through the starter set adventure "The Lost Mines of Phandelver", though I've changed the overall setting to be the same universe as the other group, so that they can meet up once they're at similar levels. I took all the classes and races I hadn't taken in the other group (except half-elf, which I thought was similar enough to human and elf, plus I had to leave one out). The other group had been 4 male/2 female, so in this one I made all characters except John and Rodney female. This group consists of Merrideth (Rodney), the halfling bard, Bren (John), the gnome monk, Rowan, the tiefling warlock, Kara, the dragonborn sorcerer, Thia, the half-orc paladin, and Dagna, the dwarven barbarian. Mer can literally kill people with insults (cantrip called Vicious Mockery), which is why I had to take bard for him. In Moressath, John is the leader of the group, but here it's Mer (and in some ways Rowan), while Bren is very quiet so far and quite un-gnome like. I'm sure Mer will tease him out of his shell. He's been very impressed with Bren's skill with his quarterstaff and bare hands (for unarmed strikes that is). They've just leveled up to level 4, and I have to admit I feel a bit bored/restricted by using a module, so I'm looking forward to them finishing off that part of their adventure, though I haven't really planned ahead.
Art
I've posted my SGA Reverse Bang art. You can check out "Ballroom Bliss"
here. And please also check out Daephraelle's wonderful fic
Whither that was inspired by this image. Both image and story are McShep.
On the AO3 posting front, I'm still at December 2008. I'm at 333 works now, which means I've added three things since the last report. In addition to the art and fic mentioned above, I posted
Un-unhappy, a story that I really love about John and Rodney having grown old together, but not together-yet.
As you can see from the word count, I've smashed my yearly goal. I also managed to write every day (though on some days less than 100 words) and will continue to try to keep that up.
