It occurred to me that it's Joe's birthday and that I haven't written Joe/David in a while. Or at least it feels like a while. So here's a story, set today in the
"Ever fallen in love?" universe.
Title: Forty-two

I'm really glad that others enjoy this universe. It's very dear to me.
Thank you so much :)

I'm the exact same.
Another thing I like about this verse is that, well, I don't generally like RPF for loads of different reasons but mostly because I think these guys are people in their own right with lives that are not ours to play with like we do with John and Rodney's, but you take that life and you pay credit to it. You write it in a way that doesn't dismiss their wives and children but embraces them. Joe asks about Baz or David understands that whatever happens Joe's kids are the most important thing to him but they can't stop how they feel about each other and you write that in a way that feels utterly real.

I think different people handle RPF differently and I know some people find the inclusion of wives and children disrespectful and prefer to write AUs where they are single or divorced and some authors prefer to include the wives as consenting partners. I write them the way I do because it's the way that feels right to me as far as the story is concerned (and in my mind Joe/David has as little to do with their real lives as John/Rodney). Their families are such a huge part of their lives I can't ignore them and Jane and Katherine consenting wouldn't work for me on various levels. Which leaves stories in which they are divorced or an affair that neither of them can quite stop.
I write what feels real to me and I'm glad it feels real to you too :)
