Blerg.

Manny Ramirez will be suspended 50 games for positive drug testI don't take any satisfaction from this. There is a strange sense of validation, because it pops the balloon of all those who crowed when the Sox dumped Manny, but it really doesn't feel good either ( Read more... )

Definitely. And it taints the good memories I do still have as a longtime fan even more. I can look back on good moments with players like Nomar, Johnny Damon, etc. and still smile. More and more when I see or think of a Manny moment, no matter how awesome it was at the time, it doesn't feel that good. Not exactly a great legacy for such a powerful player.

I've been reading reactions from Dodgers fans and their pretty crushed. It sucks for them, but you're absolutely right, the man really doesn't do much to garner respect, other than hit solid pitches.

But, I will say, it's not the biggest surprise.

I think my favorite part is the "doctor prescribed it bit," though he waived his right to challenge the suspension. Okay...

Yeah, to abuse a worn-out metaphor, it's like seeing your ex's new girlfriend get fucked over just like you did. There's a small glimmer of "I told you so", but for the most part, I empathize.

It just sucks for the fans man, I really feel for them. Here they have this powerhouse on their roster who's let them down.

(Meanwhile, I'm playing doomsday scenarios in my head when we all find out that Papi didn't get that big on his own and the explanation for Pap's anger isn't just that he's crazy, it's roid rage. O_o.)

I love that he's not taking the blame, yet isn't challenging the suspension. Mmmmmhmmmm.

I'm glad he's not on my team anymore. But I feel bad for Dodgers fans. Been there, and it sucks. :/

Here, here.

When I heard about Manny, I danced. His sense of entitlement really rubbed me the wrong way, as it does with every spot-lighted individual who feels as though the world owes them something. I feel bad for the fans, but I also feel a little validated in a "what goes around, comes around" kind of way.

Well said, it is his sense of entitlement that irks more than most of his qualities.

I'm sorry you're too good to RUN TO FIRST, MANNY, JFC.
