Title: The crazy cat star
Pairing: Yoochun/Junsu
Rating: pg-13 for this part
Genre: AU, romance
Summary: When Yoochun saves a cat out of a tree, he never thought that it could belong to the soccer star(and his wet dream) Kim Junsu.
When Yoochun had been young he had, like almost every boy, played soccer. He had his favorite team and his favorite player and all that, he even had a little flag up on the wall in his room.
But then, like with many interests children have, they grow out of it or get bored. And it was tough playing soccer with asthma. So Yoochun stopped playing and put his time down on other things, like animals and music.
He still kept the part with having a favorite player though.
Kim Junsu was his age. From reading his profile online, Yoochun knew he was two cm shorter than Yoochun and weighted a little more.
Yoochun tried to keep an eye on the three kittens running around his feet, at the same time as he tried to keep an eye on the TV across the room. There were a few people in the waiting room of the animal shelter, all there to look at possible animals to take home.
The kittens running around on the floor behind the front desk were supposed to be picked up by their new owner in an hour, but Yoochun couldn’t see the harm in letting them run around in there for a while.
As long as they didn’t get a hold of something valuable.
Cheers came from the TV and Yoochun ignored the kitten currently climbing up his jeans-clad leg, to see his wet dream, one Kim Junsu, run across the field, arms in the air, smile on his face.
He had scored.
Yoochun smiled. He wasn’t sure what team Junsu was playing for, and definitely not sure about whom they were playing against, but that didn’t matter. He suppressed a groan when the soccer star’s teammates tackled him and hugged him.
He imagined tackling Kim Junsu.
Into bed.
The front door opened and Yoochun found he needed to concentrate on work. He could look at the footage online later.
Yoochun loved working at the animal shelter. Almost as much as he loved to play the piano. He loved animals and there was nothing better than when a cat or a dog or a rabbit, or any animal of any sort, got to go home to a new owner and be happy.
He said goodbye to his co-workers when the clock turned 18 and stepped outside. There was a light drizzle coming down. He pulled up the collar on his jacket and stood with his back tightly against the wall to try and keep out of the wet. He lit a cigarette and pulled out his phone. There was a message from Jaejoong, saying he was running late. Yoochun didn’t mind.
He plugged ear-buds into his ears and started some music. By the time he had finished the smoke and checked his facebook and twitter, Jae pulled up.
It was more than a drizzle now.
He hurried over to the car and got in quickly. Jae looked exhausted.
“You want me to drive?”
The eyes looking back at him showed great relief.
“Can you? That would be great!”
Yoochun chuckled “Sure”
They crawled over each other rather than going around the car and getting soaked.
“You look like shit” Yoochun commented and peeled away from the sidewalk.
Jae flipped him off. “Thanks for comforting me asshole”
“Rough day?”
Jae huffed “Changmin drives me insane, he has some mean control issues, doesn’t trust me to do anything. Hangs over my back all the time. Do you have smokes?”
Yoochun tossed him the pack “You shouldn’t smoke in the car”
“You shouldn’t smoke when you have asthma.”
Jae lit one for himself and one for Yoochun.
The other took it without a word and winded down the window just a little so the smoke would blow out. When they finished the smokes, they threw them out the window.
Yoochun pulled up into the driveway of their shared house and threw a look at his best friend. He really looked like shit. Jae was working way too much and it wasn’t healthy for him, but whenever Yoochun tried to talk to him about it, Jae shut him up with a look that clearly said it wasn’t up for discussion. Sure, every month money was tight but Yoochun hated to see him suffer.
Jae stepped out with heavy feet and leaned on Yoochun to the front door. A proud rainbow-colored flag hung above it.
Shoes and jackets where tossed off just inside the door, both of them too tired to do it properly.
“If you don’t want to cook, we can just order something, I’ll pay”
Jae shook his head. “Let me rest for an hour and I’ll be okay” he walked towards the couch and flopped down on it.
“Will you play for me?” came the muffled question from a head buried in pillows.
“Of course” Yoochun smiled and walked over to the tiny piano in the corner. It was old and had come with the house, but it served its purpose. Yoochun played a song from his mind, it wasn’t really a lullaby but knowing Jae, and that he did, it wouldn’t matter what he played, it was more that he played. After half a song, snores came from the couch. He pulled a blanket over his best friend and went to his room.
It wasn’t hard finding pictures and videos from the match earlier, the fangirls always put them up as soon as they could. Yoochun didn’t want to call himself a fanboy, but he probably was. He didn’t scream or wave his arms whenever he saw something about Junsu, at least not on the outside, but the only thing hanging on his wall that wasn’t a framed painting, was a poster of Junsu from a modeling shoot a few years back.
Yoochun looked through the footage, smiling once again when he watched Junsu score. Then frowning when he was tripped and crashed down into the ground.
Another video showed him getting up again and Yoochun felt a bit of relief.
A chuckled interrupted him from the doorway. Jae was leaning against the frame, watching him. His clothes where rumpled from sleep, his hair stood at end and there was a little smile on his lips. “Catching up on your soccer crush?”
Yoochun smiled back. “Yeah”
“What do you want for dinner?”
“Anything?”
“Just say something.”
“But anything is fine.”
“But I don’t know what to make!”
“Why are you being so difficult? Everything you make is good!”
“But I have no idea what to make! I just told you!”
“God! Just use the chicken we have in the freezer or something!”
Jae’s eyes lit up “Oh, that’s a good idea! Thank you dear”
“Welcome” Yoochun mumbled and turned back to the computer.
An hour later Jae shouted from the kitchen.
There was rice and chicken and kimchi and fried vegetables and salad and some white bread.
“Wow, what’s the occasion?”
“Nothing” Jae winked.
“Fucker, just tell me.”
“Okay” Jae paused and shoved some food into his mouth. Yoochun was so curious he was almost bouncing in his seat.
“Come on man! Tell me!”
“I have a date tomorrow night”
Yoochun almost choked on his food and washed it down with some water.
“Yee, thanks for that. Is it that shocking?”
“No! Just surprising! Who is he?”
“He works in the building, he is a little older, 30 something, and shorter than me. But Yoochun, he had this incredible smile and he was so funny! And he doesn’t even look 30!”
“What’s his name?”
“Minwoo” Jae smiled.
“Want me to crash somewhere else so you can take him home afterwards?”
“Nope. I thought I’d try out being a little serious”
“Lol, slut!”
“Shut up!”
Yoochun laughed at his flushed friend. Maybe a steady boyfriend would be good for Jae.
Yoochun finished his food and took his plate to the sink. On his way back to his room, he kissed Jae’s cheek. “Thanks for the food babe”
Yoochun had the next day off and decided to go for a walk. It was warm outside and everything smelled like spring. He absolutely loved it!
He walked around town and through the high class neighborhood with the big fancy houses and all the cars.
He could do without the houses but damn, the cars where beautiful!
At the end of the street, just where the forest began and Yoochun usually walked he heard a high pitched scream that unmistakable came from a cat. It didn’t sound like it was fighting or mad, it sounded distressed. Yoochun knew he shouldn’t put his nose in other’s businesses but he should at least check to see that someone took care of the cat. He rounded the street corner and followed the sound.
He found the cat, at the top of a tree. Yoochun knew that the cat could get down on its own from there, but it looked young and sounded scared.
Yoochun swallowed. It wasn’t that high.
He kicked of his flip-flops and used the brick wall next to the tree to reach the lowest branch. He hurled himself up and decided that this would be fine as long as he didn’t look down. Three branches later he regretted his decision and cursed himself for not just calling the fire department or something. Sweat was running everywhere, some caused by the heat of the sun but mostly because he was scared. The cat had gone quiet.
Yoochun reached it in five minutes.
“Hello little kitty” Yoochun reached out his hand for the cat to smell. Hopefully he was judged worthy and wouldn’t get bitten.
The cat smelled his fingers and looked at Yoochun. It sniffed again and then licked one of his fingers. Yoochun let go of the breath he didn’t knew he was holding.
“Okay now, let’s get you down. I wish you could just hold onto me by yourself but I will probably have to do this with one arm.” Sweat pooled at his forehead, he hadn’t really thought about climbing down. The cat was scared, Yoochun could tell when he picked it up, its heart was racing and it was trembling a little. He held the cat against his chest and immediately claws gripped onto his t-shirt. He hissed when they sunk into his skin. Very carefully he climbed down the same way he had climbed up. But it took much longer to get down than up.
When they were safe on the ground, Yoochun sat down with the cat against the tree. His legs were like jelly and he was in no position to stand. His whole body was shaking ever so slightly and his heart was racing. He took some deep breaths and pride the cat from his chest.
“Now, let’s have a look at you” He began to check the cat over, looking and feeling for lumps and scratches. Right in the middle of feeling the hind-legs he heard steps. When a shadow fell over him and a voice full of poison asked “What are you doing to my cat?” Yoochun looked up.
Two people were standing in front of him.
One was obviously a bodyguard, big with lots of muscles, dark glasses and a suit. The other person, the one who had spoken, where smaller, shorter. He had bright blond hair that fell over his forehead and a pair of big sunglasses. He wore jeans and a simple t-shirt.
“I-I’m sorry” Yoochun tried to pull the cat of him to give to his owner but the cat wouldn’t let go and gave up an anguished cry. Yoochun looked down at it and patted it, he talked calmly and low “You need to let go and go to your dad, I might have gotten you down but he takes care of you, and you probably wouldn’t like the cheep food I’d have to get you.”
He carefully grabbed the front paws and removed them from his chest. The cat looked at him and allowed him to remove them. The owner hunched down and took the cat carefully from Yoochun. “Come here Pard” he said gently. The cat instantly began to purr and attached himself to his owner chest, much like he had done to Yoochun.
The owner didn’t stand back up. Instead he looked at Yoochun “You had to get him down?”
Yoochun thought the voice sounded almost familiar but he brushed it off and nodded “Yes” he pointed to the top “He was right at the top, screaming, figured he couldn’t get down so I climbed up and got him”
The other looked at the tree, to Yoochun, to the cat and spoke to it “You’re so stupid, climbing all the way up and then realizing you can’t get down.”
This time the owner stood up and reached his hand out “Want help up?” Yoochun took it and was hauled to his feet. He leaned back against the tree when he noticed his legs still weren’t steady yet.
The other noticed too “Are you okay?”
Yoochun gave a dry laugh “Yeah, just, scared of heights, my body is still a little shaky”
“If you’re afraid of heights, then why didn’t you just call someone to get him down?”
“Didn’t think of it until I was almost at the top, and then it felt really useless”
The other reached his hand out once again and Yoochun took it. The other had a steady grip when he shook it. “Thank you so much! What’s your name?”
“Park Yoochun”
“My name is Kim Junsu”
The other smiled and Yoochun thought he was gonna faint and his eyeballs plop out of his head.
That’s why he thought he voice was familiar! This was his idol, his wet dream, standing in front of him and he had just saved his cat. He looked down at his clothes and wanted to cringe, the white t-shirt boldly said ‘I like boys’ and it was full of bark and some resin.
He had just pulled on a pair of jeans shorts that was old and tattered. All this accompanied by a pair of baby-blue flip-flops.
He sighed “It’s an honor to meet you, it really is, though I wish I would have worn something else”
The other, Junsu, laughed and let go of his hand. This time Yoochun needed to lean against the tree to not fall over from pure shock.
“I guess you’re a fan?” He didn’t seem bothered by it and Yoochun really hoped he wasn’t.
Yoochun nodded “I missed your game yesterday ‘cause I was working but I looked up the score when I got home. Congratulations!”
“Thank you” Junsu smiled and then seemed to hesitate “Since you saved my cat and all, do you wanna come over to my house for a while and I can sign something for you, as a thanks.”
Yoochun’s heart stopped beating and then kicked into overdrive. This was a dream and he was gonna wake up anytime. He tried to speak but couldn’t find his voice, he swallowed, nodded and croaked out “That would be great”
His blushed and cleared his throat but Junsu just smiled and patted the cat still stuck to his chest. “Come on then!” He started walking and Yoochun stood frozen to the tree before he remembered he should move, and then followed Junsu.
Junsu’s house wasn’t the biggest of them all, but it sure was big. Yoochun’s and Jae’s house could probably fit at least ten times into Junsu’s. But that wasn’t why he stopped, and that wasn’t why he stared. There were three cars in the driveway, three cars he could never afford. One was a big black Hummer and sure it was nice but nowhere near as nice as the other too. The one in the middle was a dark blue ford mustang Shelby, it was an old model but he wasn’t sure of the year, it had those characteristic thick white stripes from the front, up the roof and to the back. The last was a bright green jaguar that looked right from the dealer. He swallowed and turned back to find Junsu looking at him with an amused face, still holding and patting his cat. “You like those?”
“That would be an understatement” Yoochun replied “I share a crappy old Volvo with my best friend, nothing as beautiful as this”
Junsu shrugged “Maybe we can take a ride later”
Yoochun opened his mouth and then closed it a couple of time and then just nodded.
The house was clean, the shoes where piled up nice just inside the door. Everything was fresh and modern. So much different from his and Jae’s house. Junsu took off his glasses as and laid them on a little table.
Pard released himself from Junsu and ran away into another room, Junsu scoffed after him. They walked to the kitchen and Junsu handed him a glass of cold water and filled one for himself. Yoochun thanked him and knocked it back, he didn’t even realize he was that thirsty.
Junsu chuckled “Do you want more?”
Yoochun blushed a little “No thanks”
“So what do you do for a living Yoochun?”
“I work part time in an animal shelter”
Junsu’s mouth turned into an O “So that’s why you climbed the tree to save my cat?”
“Well yes, I don’t like seeing animals in pain or being mistreated, but it’s great to see them get new homes where they are loved”
“Do you wanna meet the rest of the cats?” Junsu showed a smile bright enough to rival the sun and his eyes shone. Yoochun couldn’t do anything but smile back. “That would be awesome!”
Junsu lead the way through a few room and up half a stair and into a room that was clearly design to only belong to the cats. There where scratching pads and poles with platforms and swings and tunnels and almost every toy a cat could ever wish to have. There were also cat-beds around the room, Yoochun counted to six. Only one was occupied though. Yoochun guessed that it was Pard that was in one of the beds but he couldn’t be sure. In a cornet stood a big pink armchair.
“And here was no one” Junsu declared. He walked over to a cabinet that was high on the wall, that he had to get on a stool to reach.
Yoochun couldn’t help but really noticing his ass this time, god it looked good! Junsu took down a small carton and Yoochun recognized it as cat-candy. He chuckled and Junsu winked “They’ll probably come running in a minute, sit down.”
Yoochun looked around but then understood Junsu meant that he should sit on the floor. He crossed his legs and folded them. Junsu shook the carton a few time, making sure it rattled. And then he gave it to Yoochun and sat down. Yoochun tried to give it back but Junsu shook his head “You feed them.”
In less than a minute Yoochun was surrounded by six hungry cats. Junsu pointed to them all and named them but there was no way Yoochun could remember them all right away. He fed them small pieces of the candy and made sure to pat them all and tell them just how beautiful he thought they were. “They like you” Junsu chuckled.
Yoochun smiled back at him “I like them”
Junsu sighed and took one of the cats and put it in his lap. It looked up at him and butted its head against Junsu’s hand that patted it. “I hate the thought of giving them away but I’ll have to soon”
Yoochun stopped right in his movement. He could see how much Junsu loved his cats, why else would they have a whole room for themselves, and the way he looked at them showed so much affection.
“Do you want one?” Junsu asked.
“What! No! I mean yes but no. Why do you have to give them away?”
Junsu shrugged “They don’t get all the attention they need. I’m not home often enough or long enough to take care of them properly”
“I can take care of them!” Yoochun blurted out. No, he didn’t know this man, his idol, more than from TV and internet, he could be a necrophile for all Yoochun knew, but the pain in Junsu’s eyes was enough for him to be willing to do almost anything. And he knew how it felt to have animals taken away from you.
Junsu pondered him and then stood up, the cat in his lap easily moving away. Yoochun did the same and gave them all pats on their head and excusing himself that he couldn’t pat them more now, maybe later. A few followed them out of them room and scattered around the house, a few stayed behind.
Junsu walked to the living room, he still hadn’t said a word about Yoochun’s proposal and he was getting more and more anxious by the second. He wasn’t one of the crazy-fans but he also understood if Junsu didn’t believe that. He opened a drawer and took out a picture and a pen. He signed the photo and then turned back to Yoochun “Here” he said with a smile and Yoochun took it for what it was, it was good-bye and more than Yoochun could ever had hoped for.
But then Junsu also handed him his phone. “Put your number in and I’ll call you the day after tomorrow and we can talk more about it then”
It was with very shaky fingers that Yoochun managed to put in both his cell and for work. He saved it and handed it back.
“Thank you so very much” Yoochun said. Junsu just waved at him and showed him to the door.
On his way home, Yoochun felt like he was walking on clouds and he was glad that Junsu had signed him a picture, ‘cause Jae would never believe him otherwise.
Part 2. Note: I'm so unhappy with this part I don't even know what to do with it! But I couldn't make it better so it had to do. I'll try to update soon but I'm home in my hometown for the summer so there will be no promises(not that I update frequently otherwise or anything...) ^^
