Decided to tackle Pregnant!Riza. It's kind of nice writing from the female point of view for once. I have NO idea where in the scheme of things this would fall, but if Riza ever got pregnant, I figured this would be one of her challenges.
Title: THE FIRST INDIGNITY

Riza refused to become "hormonal." It didn’t matter how many times the doctor explained because of her pregnancy, the actual level of those evil substances in her blood was growing at an exponential rate. She didn't care that she had every excuse in the world to feel emotional. She wasn't going to loose her composure.
At least not in front of the men.
But with four of them in the house it was hard to find a place to be alone long enough to get her act together. Retreating to the bedroom was an invitation to start up something different. And if she didn't come out of the bathroom quick enough, one of her lovers would hover outside the door, concerned that she might be throwing up.
In the end she chose to hide in the library when the hormones threatened to take over. At least there, she could hide her face in a book and give off signals that she wasn't interested in company. As long as she didn't sob or scream, she could emote in peace, face hidden in the pages of some random book.
It worked, but sometimes she slipped.
She made the mistake of looking at the newspaper at the breakfast table. Her eye slipped from the dry doings of Parliament to an advertisement for toilet tissue, and Lord help her, she teared up.
No, no, no no.
Masuta noticed first. "Riza, what's wrong?"
She couldn't, absolutely COULDN'T say she was bawling over a picture of a baby teething on a roll of toilet tissue. Frankly the picture should have disgusted her. Get that dirty thing out of that child's mouth! The words BABY SOFT should have inspired derisive laughter, and maybe a comment, "I didn't realize they were using babies to make toilet tissue these days." But no, all of a sudden it was just so unbelievably ADOREABLE that she was moved to literal tears.
The others had picked up on Masuta's concern and she just couldn't keep the tears off her face. If she ran now, they would be on her like hyenas on a wildebeest. She had to say SOMETHING.
"I'm pregnant," she said, lamely.
And oddly enough, they all accepted it.
