The night was hot, causing Sophie to toss and turn as she tried to sleep. If she could, she would open a window, but every since the Cross of the Magyars had been stolen from the hallway, the house rule was that no windows could be open at night.

Gustav had gone to look for the cross, or find some other blessed relic to keep the vampires away, so Mrs. Townsend was in charge. She had only been home on business for a few days, so had only been told that the windows couldn’t be opened because the bat population had been flying into homes lately.

Sophie decided that she would open a window anyway. She crawled out of bed, and pulled back the curtains. She opened the window, and unlocked the shutters, pushing them outwards. A cool breeze hit her face, and made her hair dance behind her head. She basked in it for a few moments, her white nightgown still clinging suggestively to her as it recovered from the suffocating heat.

She was about to crawl back into bed, when she realized she was being watched. She tilted her head downwards, and noticed the handsome face of Alexander Lucard looking at her.

Sophie smiled down at him. She had been thinking about him a lot lately, realizing that besides the fact he was a vampire, he was a perfectly nice man. And the vampire wasn’t all that bad, it was kind of sexy. No one was perfect, everyone had their little flaws. “Why don’t you come up?”

A few seconds later, Lucard was in the room. She stood on her tiptoes, and kissed him lightly on the lips.

After the kiss, he pushed her hair back a little, a smile playing on his face. “You are lovely.”

Sophie blushed a little, looking down at the floor. “Thank you.”

He touched her chin, lifting it up so their eyes met. She gave him a sexual smile. Lucard smiled, as he vamped, he sank his teeth into her pure, soft neck.

A moan escaped from her lips as he did so, and Sophie realized she could spend eternity with this man.
