The gif says it all. He just tried to keep playing. The best part is how people try to ignore this scene from this angle lol.

If Leo had broken Valiente's nose, the ref would had shown the yellow to him too, or it could had been even worse. Ronaldo got sent off and the defender didn't comprlain about it, because everyone knows, that is football. It's silly to discuss if they are bad or not.

Did you see Valiente's comments on it all? He pretty much called bullshit and was none too pleased by it, then apologised for the shirt holding. I miss him! He was one of my favourites!

I can understand Xavi and Messi's reactions. They thought that they were offended by RM's action because it sounded like, "Ronaldo did the bad thing but Messi did the similar thing too." (oh wait, their situations are very different in my eyes). And that's why Xavi said, "Don't try to degrade Messi, he is a model player." Yes, he is completely right.
