Today has been both fun and productive. I'd almost settle for "interesting and productive", but fun is better.

I drove into the city for two appointments- the first a chatty lunch with the lovely carmen_sandiego. We arranged to meet at the excellent Indian buffet restaurant whereat the Fangirly Splendour occured just a couple of weeks ago, but our timing today was so good that just as I was parking the car, she was strolling by, so we were able to get a head start on the gabbin'. Of which there was plenty: you know your lunch is going really well when you glance at your watch and see that a whole hour has whizzed by, and then notice that the room that was empty when you arrived is now full of happy, noisy diners. Also? The food, most excellent. Trimurti on Queen West, $8.95 for lunch. *burp*

Carmen and her sister snowdrifted mostly play in other fandoms, but bravely set themselves a similar task to mine of this spring: to watch all of Buffy on DVD from beginning to end. Those girls went at it hardcore too, I tell ya- they started in March (same as me) but finished in May. Wow. I'm only a third of the way into Season 7, and here I thought I was rockin' it old school!

After lunch, we had time for a coffee and a quick exchange: she read my tarot, and I made her a fast portrait sketch. The reading was wonderful- the first card turned was the ten of cups, which she said spoke of contentment, happy home and family, bliss. And that is true.

Carmen also showed me her nearly-finished Buffy tarot deck. It's *so* beautiful! I've been watching its progress over on her list, and she makes the most inspired choices of image to match the meanings of the cards. Seriously, it has to be seen to be believed, so pretty.

Interesting items spotted on the drive in: the wreckage of the Air France jet being dismantled for removal. A poignantly dramatic vista of a very tall crane dangling an entire wing. All westbound traffic in the collector lanes STILL slow down to looky-loo on the way past the crash site. It's been a week, people: the bits o' plane all look exactly the same as the last time you drove by and rubbernecked. Geez.

Also seen: the ginormous Cirque du Soleil sprawlof big top tents, auxillary tents, sub-auxillary tents and trailers, all decked with flags of many nations, parked in the usual spot down by Ontario Place. Funny, I've never yet seen one of their shows live. The husband says that if I ever consent to visiting Vegas with him (he's been flown there twice to shoot pool- long story) he'll take me to see the naughty-sexy Cirque show Zumanity. Personally, I think I'll hold out for the Beatles show they're working on, if only to see what fabulous things they conjure for "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".

What all the radio stations are talking about: the Rolling Stones concert tonight. At a smallish concert club. For ten bucks a ticket. People camped overnight. And took pictures of themselves beside the mobile road sign announcing the concert. The Stones just love Toronto, man- they tend to rehearse here for all their tours, give little club dates, dine out without being mobbed. Keef bought a house in a nice-but-not-snobby neighbourhood. And good for him.

Healthy thing done today: bought all the ingredients to make granola. Yesterday I worked out at my new gym, tomorrow I will do so again. Go me!
