1 Close all open programs.
2 Turn off Norton while you re-install Palm
3 Download and install Palm updates
4 Turn Norton back on check it for updates and run a scan

(personally I would also check for any spyware using both Spybot Search&Destroy, and Malwarebytes, then clean and defrag the HD)

norton probably blocked something that also needs to be unblocked.

and don't forget to run spybots tea timer and web browser "fixer" (innoculate?)

wouldn't hurt to run lavasoft's adaware too.

malwarebyte is probably #1 currently according to an admin i know that has to do this all day for marketeers ;)

Spybot's web "fixer" is called "Immunize" :-) and yes should probably be run.

The Tea-Timer app I don't tend to recommend installing for people who don't know what the error messages it will generate are, because there will be a lot of them.

Lavasoft's stop making free updates easily available a while back so I haven't been recommending ad-aware any more and haven't tried it recently, but it was good.

go into norton and look for recent activity? by date?

find the "blocked" section, and go through looking for anything about palm?

i don't know a lot about norton, and without looking at your setup in person, it's just guesswork, but it sounds like norton is the screwup.

how did you download the hotsync update? can you do that again? manually?
