Is there anyplace on earth left where people aren't nasty?

Because I want to move there. I am so sick of catching serious amounts of attitude every time I leave the house. It was my dream to live in New York as a kid, but I was thinking of the dream New York of "That Girl" and "The Odd Couple." NOT this ( Read more... )

Come to Raleigh! For your requests: 1) It snows occasionally, usually no more than a few inches. They get an ice storm about once a year. 2) Eh. Sorry. 3) The drivers seem good. They let you in, they wave thank you when you let them in, and I've only been cut off by people with New Jersey or Maryland plates.

I was there once for a couple of days, on tour in a show. It seemed nice. I am over NY, as you no doubt gleaned, so I'm open to most options, particularly ones where people drive politely.

Move here...move here...! It sucks and the people are probably worse - idiots, assholes and bible thumpers!

Actualy after seeing Sicko, I think we should all move to Canada or the UK. I would *really* love to be an ex-pat in Paris if I could only speak French!! The French get 5 wks of vacation, time off if they move and if they are recovering from an illenss, they get paid-time-off!

Talking about rude people, as much as I loathe Wal-Mart, there are some of the *nicest* people who work there. Old ladies and men who should be retired but are forced to be checkers to make a few bucks. They are really appreciative to people who are nice to them. Well, I've been into shitty Wal-Marts with the gang-banger types throwing your food into bags. In my neck of the woods, they are all old people, single-mom types and foreigners who have been beaten down by racism so they are actually really nice.

Our Wal-Mart is Hell, but it's because of the other customers. The checkers are fine--tattooed kids and single moms, all of whom are polite--but the white trash families, complete with aunts, uncles, grandparents and 25 kids, all running around, knocking over displays and generally behaving like complete assholes, have so traumatized me that I haven't been into Wal-Mart since September. It's a bummer, because they have by far the cheapest groceries, but my sanity is worth the extra money!

We have the bible thumpers here, too. It's amazing to me that I could live in such an ass-backward jerkwater only an hour away from NYC. We've met some cool people, but many more are racist, ignorant and obnoxious.
