Hi everyone!
It's been a while...
Do any of you watch Covert Affairs? I had been half watching for a while now, writing it off as an occasional guilty pleasure. Until this current season that is. And that's not only because I developed a crush on Simon. Oh Simon...
As much as I liked last week's shocking episode, I was so bummed about Simon getting shot and even more importantly, the writers saying in various interviews that he is dead. Annie will obviously survive so no worries there. Simon's storyline with Annie was the best of the show so far and had converted me from an occasional watcher to one waiting for the next episode. As stupid as it was that she fell for him, I saw what she saw in him so bought the whole spy falling for the enemy bit and the internal conflict that followed.
After the last episode, I rewatched the first few episodes of 'Coupling' and am amazed by Richard Coyle's range. From playing the Kramer of the original Coupling, to transforming into the sexy, tough guy (with, it turns out, a heart) on Covert Affairs. Impressive transformation! I hope USA brings him back in some shape or form. He is a star or should be here in the US.
Now speculations: One of the episode review comments I read gave me pause about a possibility I hadn't thought of: while like most others I had interpreted Lena checking Simon's pulse as a way to make sure that he was dead, it now occurs to me that she might have been trying to make sure he was alive. I could buy her being the long lost sister or a former lover Simon never committed to. I know that the writers wouldn't have answered questions about Simon so directly if they had intended to bring him back but stranger things have happened so one can hope.
If you happened to watch the last episode, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
